Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!

I considered bumping the old The Handmaid's Tale thread but decided to start anew.

The first three episodes were pretty good with some decent world building. I'm not a fan of the screwed up timeline but I guess the show runners wanted some continuity/familiar faces.

Is anyone else watching?

Surprised more people are not watching this. I think it's been really good so far.

Kind of confused how Gilead is still functioning as I thought it fell at the end of THT.

We definitely saw the fall of Boston at the end of The Handmaid's Tale so it's probably safe to assume that any northern border states would have active resistant movements crossing over from Canada but based on this series it appears that the lines have solidified.

Season Finale Bump:

I thought this was a great season and I hope the series doesn't falloff like THT did. I think the show benefits from having an ensemble cast instead of focusing on just one character and the older actors playing teenagers definitely helps with the acting and the serious subject matter.

The world building has been great, and I really enjoy seeing how Gilead functions along with all the little details in the daily lives of the characters.

My biggest complaint is Elisabeth Moss coming back to reprise her role as June Osborne for anything more than just a cameo. There's no way she would be actively involved with any covert aspect of Mayday. She's too high profile and would put everyone at risk.

I do find it interesting that Mayday is using Daisy and knowingly putting her life at risk to accomplish its goals. It is definitely a "do the ends justify the means" plot point. So much so that I question who really killed Daisy's parents.

Looking forward to Season 2.

I didnt mind her first cameo earlier in the season to essentially recruit Daisy, but it was silly for Daisy to ride all the way back to Canada just so we can see June's reaction to learning about Agnes/Hannah. She gives Daisy a speech about how all of this is bigger than one person but the moment June realizes she has an in with Hannah she throws that all out the window just to keep a close contact on her. Minus that part its been a good season and I'll def watch season 2 when it comes.
