Starting this on a whim. Anyone obsessed with finding the right backpack/shoulder bag/sling etc? Literally hours of my year are filled with searching through listings to the point where my wife and I refer to anything we obsess over as "backpacking"

This week I wanted to find a new sling type bag to hold an iPad mini and after hours of research im getting a used porter yoshida tanker from a Japanese second hand store

Anyone else out there with my affliction?

I like Alpaca Gear, Alpine Sea, and Kavu.

I thought so. It's not travel but I put it in the same category as the sneaker thread because it's more of a collection thing.

I bought a Burberry crossbody bag that fits my ipad mini. It's pretty much just a fanny pack with a longer adjustable strap. Drawback is it only has two ziper pockets but I put an organizer in the front that keeps everything in place.

Also for luggage, I do not reccomend the Nobl carryon. If you have a laptop in the laptop compartment you can maybe fit a day's worth of clothes in it. I bought it for weekend trips to Bahamas, Grand Cayman, etc. where I am going to be poolside all day and do very little dressing up. I am usually the opposite of that with two checked bags, a carryon and backpack.

I have the older version of this duffel and it is awesome for weekend trips.

I selected Filson years ago for my laptop/mobile device/book carrying needs. Considering it's practically indestructible, I will have it until Armageddon unless I just get bored with it.

Same here! I have the Filson Rugged Twill Original Briefcase in Otter Green as my daily bag. Got the 48 Hour Tin Cloth Duffle Bag for longer weekend trips. They have sales often, so you should never have to pay retail.

Ha. I have that same Otter Green Original bag on top. I also have an older yellow one that is the larger Original. Not sure if they still make that. It's like the Original but holds more. The hand straps on the yellow one have a button clasp that pulls the hand straps together so you can carry it more comfortably that the green Original do not.

Edit: my yellow one has the same handles as your bottom bag, but it's not that bag. It's the Original but a little bigger.

I've been tempted by their backpack, but only way I'd add that is if it were a gift. My wife has a bad enough bag habit that I don't need to add to it. She got the briefcase for me because I was still using the indestructible Timbuk2 messenger bag I've had since college in the 90s and thought I needed to look a bit more professional.

i really really thought about a filson bag but i have a filson jacket and thought that i didnt want to be the hey here comes the waxed tin cloth guy walking around town.

oh man i absolutely thought about this one before i bought my northface basecamp backpack. i still might pull the trigger on it.

I regret not buying a Nordace Siena in Kyoto. This thread inspired me to break down and order one.
