RIP. A true outlaw. First time I saw him was at Willie Nelson's 2nd Annual 4th of July Picnic at Texas World Speedway outside of College Station in 1974. 3 days of weirdness and great music.

Aside from his mainstream hits he has some, uh, "interesting" songs.

DAC Rides Again is a really good album.

Coincidentally, today is Willie's 93rd birthday.

yeah, honestly I didn't know he was still alive. Aggie Rich has posted tweets with him several times. I don't know if he posts on here or not. If not, his ass needs to be on here. He's one hell of an Ag.

I hope I did not offend anybody with this post. If I did, please come see me at my address in my profile so we can talk.

I always knew he was considered an "outlaw" country guy but never really bothered to look at to why. Checked out his discography today and came across a certain album. I get it now.

Saw him at Chillifest in late 90s (98 maybe?). He had to have a shot of vodka or gin every couple of songs so he could stop shaking. He was 58 then. How he made it to 86 has got to be a miracle.

Pretty much same. I thought he was close to dying in the late 90's. Rolling almost another 30 years with the mileage that guy put on his body (specifically liver), is a minor miracle.

I'm hopeful his body has been donated to science so that it can be determined how be made it to 86.

I saw him in concert at Harry's in the spring of '97. Cory Morrow was the opening act. DAC drank a quart of Jack Daniels on stage, while performing and putting on a great show.

Well, while you're on a history trip, go back to "Freakin' at the Freakers Ball" where it all started.

He had a tough upbringing, was a really messed-up dude -- was hard for anyone to get along with for any period of time. He has some great songs and some awfully distasteful songs too.

Waylon didn't care for him, said something along the lines of "he will use your (meaning waylon's)name to make money off of.

Not a great human being to be around by a lot of accounds but his song writing is/was undeniable.

Also, the Outlaw thing wasn't just an image. He was legit in prison at one point and I believe he was affiliated with the Outlaw MC.

Saw him live at the Texas HOF back in the early 2000s. He actually was pretty good in that show.

Saw him once in '96 or '97, and it might have been that one at Harry's, but my memory places it at that club on South College that was called Denim & Diamonds. I also can't remember if it was called Denim & Diamonds at the time or whatever it was called after that. I'm old.

He didn't write it, but "The Ride" is a killer song.

I get chills every time he sings "He was dressed like 1950, half drunk and hollow-eyed" and of course, "the whole world calls me 'Hank.'"

Just a great country song.
