Hopefully this is a trial balloon of sorts for a fourth movie. The charm/chemistry/laughs are all certainly still there. If so, I legitimately can't believe how well everyone has aged. They all look damn near the same as they did 24 years ago. Give Austin Powers a teenager or a kid in his 20s or whatever, and a fourth movie would do insane numbers.

Idk why but finding out Mike Myers ripped off the dr evil character from Dana carvey & never gave proper credit has ruined the Austin powers nostalgia a bit for me

Carvey used to impersonate Lorne Michaels in the 90's to goof w the other snl cast members

Mike myers used the impersonation, mannerisms, etc to create the dr evil character

Austin powers is a huge hit, Mike myers becomes a insanely wealthy star, while Dana fades into obscurity

All of this would have been ok, but myers never gives any credit to carvey for the inspiration


Just kind of a ****bag thing to do to your buddy....

They need to spoof the super serious tone of the Daniel Craig 007 saga. Lots of humor material there.

Meh. I've heard that too. I think it's a stretch at best.
I'm sure Carvey did the Lorne impression and Myers borrowed from it but he fleshed it out into his greatest character by far.
And Carvey's just fine. Saying he's faded into obscurity is hyperbole.

From over the year it sounds like everyone had a Lorne impression.

I adore Dana Carvey, but let's not pretend like some bad professional choices didn't torpedo his career.

Opportunity Knocks has a 11% rating on RT
Trapped in Paradise, where somehow he, Lovitz, and Nic Cage are brothers, is at 10%
The Master of Disguise, released in 2002, has a RT score of 1% and is thought of as one of the worst movies ever.

Ive said it since the last Austin Powers movie but there needs to be a Dr. Evil movie where AP just has minimal screen time.

AP is an okay character. Dr. Evil is an all time classic.

Character inspiration yes.... but the voice, mannerisms, etc is the Lorne impersonation that myers took from carvey

Myers deserves all the credit for the success... all the characters, the bond parodies, the wholistic portrait is Myers brainchild & it's all brilliant

But lifting your buddies impersonation & giving him zero acknowledgement.... a bit ****ty imo
