I also read a while back that Myers didn't even want Garth in the Wayne's World movies, he wanted it to be centered around Wayne. I guess he got over it since they made two of them.

Leave it alone.

Austin Powers is a comedy classic. No good can come of trying to bring Austin into the 2020's.

Rewatched one of them a couple years back.

They haven't aged well.

Hilarious at the time. But rewatching Austin Powers or Wayne's World was a disappointment.

Agreed, I showed it to my kids last year and we were all underwhelmed. They are both in highschool like I was when it first came out. I was surprised how unfunny it was. I remembered it being hilarious in the late 90's.

That was kind of the premise of the movie to begin with though?

if they have no concept of James Bond it's much less funny…

Bite your tongue. I haven't revisited Austin Powers in a long time, but Wayne's World is a top 5 deserted island movie for me. I have the entire movie memorized, watch it once a year or so, and still laugh at it

I saw it three times opening weekend and quoted it like crazy and sometimes still quote it.

It doesn't hold up.

It did give us a preview of Matt Foley, though we didn't know it at the time.

I'll agree with you on Wayne's World. I watched it for the first time in about 20 years with my 12 year old son, and he didn't like it at all, I chuckled a few times, but it just wasn't as good as I remembered. It hasn't aged well because its basically a 2 hour commercial for the late 80s/early 90s.

My son loved both Austin Powers and Austin Powers 2 and I think they have aged incredibly well. There were a few pop culture references he didn't get (like the Chili's parody), but he still found it very enjoyable.

Sounds like your kids don't have a good sense of humor.

Hopefully this is a trial balloon of sorts for a fourth movie. The charm/chemistry/laughs are all certainly still there. If so, I legitimately can't believe how well everyone has aged. They all look damn near the same as they did 24 years ago. Give Austin Powers a teenager or a kid in his 20s or whatever, and a fourth movie would do insane numbers.

They need to spoof the super serious tone of the Daniel Craig 007 saga. Lots of humor material there.

Maybe wishful thinking, but Daniel Craig seems the type to welcome and even participate in this idea.
