I couldn't sleep last night so I ended up dropping in Hellboy which had just come from Netflix.

How closely does the movie follow the storyline? I'm not a big comic book fan and I don't recall ever even hearing of him before the movie came out. Same question goes for Daredevil.

I wonder how soon this current wave of comic book movies will peter out or if they will delve in to some of the more obscure characters.

Actually I just watched this from Netflix the other (late) night too. I enjoyed it. Thought it was pretty cool.

I think that we're in for a long line of them, considering that the comic had been the source for movies for a long time.

I think that the rising popularity of 'graphic novels' will also lead to more movies being based on them (like From Hell).

I caught part of Hellboy in a salon where I was getting a pedicure. I liked the little bit I saw better than Spiderman. But I also have a thing for Selma Blair and I currently live in NJ, so I might be biased.

Another graphic novel that has turned into a movie is Sin City. I saw a trailer and it looks great.

I was looking for a thread on the original Hellboy, and I found this. I'm not sure if these posters are still around, but they saw the writing on the wall. Batman Begins came out 9 months later, and a few years after that iron Man started a bajillion movie run.

I wonder where we go from here?
