Anyone pick this up yet? The new single Reach up to the Sunrise is pretty catchy and people are already saying the rest of the album is great too.

I'd like to hear it. Even though my taste leaned heavily towards metal in the 80's, I thought Duran Duran was not bad.

Picked it up yesterday. Been playing through the first five tracks over and over and they're pretty solid. Haven't had a good chance to really pay attention to the last half yet. If it's possible to say that there's a 21st century sound to the 80s then this CD would be a good example of that.

Astronaut by Duran Duran is a GREAT "Make-Out" CD.

I put it on the past two nights and the romance has been on...

This CD is alot like the Wedding Album CD...

But i think this CD is better..overall has a complete sound to the CD..Every song is good..in fact the song i like least is the first single they put out SUnrise...

From track 3-12 the songs are very very strong...each song gets better than the next..

for those of you who only heard the first five songs, keep on listening because my favorite is track 6,7,8,9,&10..those are the best songs on the CD...

My rating on the CD is
*Very much worth my purchase price and
* YEs I would buy it again.

I've listened to it all several times again, and still prefer the first half of the CD to the last half, with the exception of track 8.

Look at the year-end Billboard hot 100 for 1993 and name a song that stands the test of time better than 'Come Undone.'

Ordinary world also released that same year.

Duran Duran …. Stands the test of time.

With just a quick glance,
I will always love you-Whitney Houston
Ain't Nothing But A G Thang-Dr Dre
Runaway Train-Soul Asylum.

That's three without even trying that hard.

Their '95 cover of White Lines (Don't Do It) was a travesty from the moment Simon opens his mouth. S. Pegg was better in Shaun of Dead setting it to zombie noshing.

A lot of fun 80s stuff though.

Couldn't disagree more.

They did a fantastic cover of White Lines.
In fact that whole album, "Thank You", is a an album of covers and they do some really fresh takes on many of them and they're really good.

Runaway Train sucks donkey balls. Doesn't hold up at all. Some songs remain stuck in their time period, others transcend time.
Runaway Train is squarely in the former category.
Hell, even in '93 that song got old.

Soul Asylum has wet dreams about a fanbase the size of and decades long relevancy of Duran Duran.

He had a Duran Duran point to share

Didn't feel it was maybe new thread worthy

Did a Texags forum search for threads with Duran Duran in the title

Found this thread

Added his point on this thread

It had Biliy Idol Mony Mony vibes except with Simon haplessly trying to rap the bass rather than pulling off the vocal. Melle Mel and Grandmaster Flash were involved so at least he had cover for the effort.

Guess I have to wait another 6 years to bump a Devo thread.
