Bonfire Coalition for Students is actively trying to raise funds for the Visitor's Center. We had a golf tournament earlier in the fall that proceeds are being held to donate when the administration gives the green light on the construction. If you have any questions regarding, you may direct them at bonfire-coalition.com, and look for the comments email.

Do yall know anything about the artifacts and memorabilia side of the initial post? Where they are stored or even whose possession they are in?

There was an anthropology prof (Grider I think) that headed up Project Beam which collected and cataloged all the memorabilia. It was planned to go on display in the museum which still hasn't happened.

The site stopped getting updated years ago and now doesn't even have a page on it anymore.

The flowers and papers (they weren't preservable) were all mulched and used around campus. Everything else was cataloged and stored though I have no idea where.

If she's still at A&M, she'd be the person to ask.

Most of the significant artifacts are located on TAMU campus, in Cushing, with very limited access. Many others are being held by individuals waiting to donate them to a proper home.

I was told by a professor some of the paper is intact, and I know there is an effort to use UV photography to conserve some of what is written.
