I don't speak for SB, but IIRC, SB liquidated a large portion of their outdated (and un-dated) inventory in 2005. There were hats, koozies, shirts, stickers, and some glossy photos of a few years' Bonfires. Many of the '02 and '03 shirts were sold to participants for use as grodes while I think a bunch of the rest was either boxed and stored or given away in promotion blitz prior to Bonfire '05. Bonfire made a shirt that was not year-specific, but like band t-shirts; they don't sell as well as the "night-of" or concert shirts.
At the time in '05, the Bonfire Coalition for Students were the go-to folks for merchendise and SB had a few reasons to steer the focus away from a retail venture and more towards a Bonfire building. SB let BCs do their thing, while SB did theirs; and I don't think a move has been made back to the shirt selling days.
Since then, there haven't been the staff or demand to ramp up the online store. If there is an overwhelming desire for a certain item or for the store to be kicked back up, I'm sure SB will respond to the mass of e-mails sent to info@studentbonfire.com and maximize on an opportunity. Properly marketed and timely delivered merch. can be a significant boost to the bottom line for any organization.
