Did I hear this right? Moses Hall did 30 grand worth of damage to the dorm because they tried to put a firemans pole in through the bathrooms and the University punished them by turning it into an All Fish dorm? When did this take place?

It's a sad state, it was almost a reunion outside the place every football weekend, but I went by there last week and it just wasn't the same place no benches or anything. As far as the pots and all go I have no idea. I know they made it to at least the class of '07 but I don't know beyond that.

it was not the firemans pole that got us kicked out. it was the demolition of the fourth floor bathrooms that may or may not have caused 30 grand worth of damage.

we had pot(s) up until '11. then they died.

yes the university killed it.

we tried to salvage and get freshman within the dorm to participate, but attempting that while not living there presented problems that led to Moses' demise.

and by the way sesame it is not that the girls were dead. they were just mostly unconscious.

We've still got the pots. Thought about passing them down for a while. But without access to the dorm and the UPD/ResLife up our ass, we(Yellowpot and Chiefs of '07) didn't want to dilute Moses's reputation and tradition.

Please don't tell me you blame the university for not wanting to end the problem of residents destroying the hall pretty much every year?

Destroying things for fun is bad bull and has nothing to do with "brotherhood" or whatever you want to call it. Pranks that cause little to no property damage can be fun, but Moses crossed the line years ago.

What exactly did happen? All I read is damage to the 4th floor bathroom. I've been out of the loop for a few years. I know when I was there they always told us they were going to shut the place down, but that had been said for years prior to me. We were regularly the high spenders on campus for repairs, but mostly for windows, the occasional prank cleanup.

Destroyed as in stall walls knocked over and pipe fixtures removed, or as in all the tiles broken, etc?

If anything, I'm surprised the university was so generous with them. Surely, they had been on Reslife's **** list since the deer incident, if not earlier.

While slightly before my time that was one of the funniest pictures i have from moses deer on the toilet

The deer wasn't even done by Moses residents. We just happend to be on the bad end of a pretty good joke. I can't say we didn't deserve it. I can say moses was on reslife's list waaaay before the deer.

I don't know where the Yellowpot box is now a days if it still exists. But there were many letters of reprimand that went back for years and years. There were good reading and would make you chuckle a bit. I hope somebody still has that thing, that had a good bit of history in it.

NO ziggity, thats not what i am referring to.(nice recreation) I am referring to the reason that moses was turned into a freshman dorm.

Imagine a 6'1" alcoholic, smoker, 42 god... sitting at the benches in boots and shorts.

now imagine the opposite.

I went to enough meetings with Ron Sass, Rotter, and the rest of the Res-Life admin (for nearly 3 months, one meeting a week it seems now) to know definatively, that what has been discussed here is a matter of good stories pieced together.

And for anyone who thinks that the majority of physical property damage in moses was done by a resident, say it to my face *****, I can tell you right now that the greatest destructive feat was caused by an outside source.

now I am rambling but fully plan on completing the proper history of moses between 1999-2006 the golden haze of disillusionment.

for now. think about what I have said, figure out who I am, and send me a message on facebook. There are more important happenings to discuss that we must be organized through a social club removed from the university.

Whoever's got the pots... post pics of them if you can and let the deads know where they are at. It would be nice to still be able to visit our old pots on gameday maybe once a season.

I was the GHD in Moses from 12/05 through the summer of 2007. I "oversaw" its conversion to an all-freshman LLC. Mostly, I just held my hands around the throat of a proud dorm as I waited out its death rattle.

The final straw was the destruction of the 4th floor bathroom several times within a period of a few weeks. No one's father threatened suit, though a resident did tell me that his father was a lawyer.

Remember, though; that was only the straw breaking the camel's back; there were countless other chronic problems - perennially lowest GPA, vandalism, harassing other residents - eventually the costs far overshadowed the benefits. After all, our first responsibility was to make sure those kids got an education.

I am happy to answer any questions for the curious, and eager to set the record straight in the case of anyone who "thinks" they know what happened.

I found myself in a strange situation, caught between a rock and a hard place. As part of the last class to build Bonfire, I understood the camaraderie fostered by such an activity. But at the same time, a significant number of the people with whom I built Bonfire failed out of school because they thought they could major in Cut or Stack.

Also, I tried to be reasonable with the troublemakers; keep the mischief to a manageable level and we can all get along. When they tried to make me an enemy and spit in my eye, I told them that I would prevail in a battle of wills. And unfortunately, that's what it became.

You weren't the last class to build Bonfire.

Why did Moses need to form a Limited Liability Corporation?

with all due respect - and I do respect what off-campus bonfire does - it's still little "b" bonfire.

I lived in Moses Hall last year as a freshmen, and this year have been working on pulling out freshmen to come do bonfire. I was the only fish to do it last year and have about 6 kids doing it with me this year.

Imagine that. The same guy who gloats about personally killing a northside dorm putting down Student Bonfire.

I didn't kill Moses. Moses killed itself; if not in dramatic fashion by a bullet to the temple, then by smoking cigarettes and eating fried chicken at every meal for 40 years. The decision wasn't mine. I was brought in at the last minute to try and salvage what Moses had brought upon itself. When student after student (bonfire and otherwise) refused to cooperate to save Moses, they basically cut off their noses to spite their faces.
