Bonfire Remembrance Week will be held on campus November 13 - 18. The week and events are being coordinated by the students in Traditions Council, MSC Hospitality, RHA, the Corps of Cadets, and the Student Government Association. The two main events will be the Bonfire Remembrance Program which will be held in Reed Arena on November 17, at 8:00 p.m. This event will be attended by the majority of the families of the fallen 12, as well as many of the now former students that were injured in the collapse. All Aggies need to attend to show that these folks that the love of the Aggie Spirit is never ending. Speakers at the Remembrance Program include LtGen Joe Weber, Vice President of Student Affairs, Will Hurd, the 1999- 2000 Student Body President, and a family representative. The program will also feature a video remembrance of 1999 and the 12 Aggies that we lost.
At 2:42 a.m. on November 18, Aggies will gather at the Bonfire Mememorial for a candlelight vigil. Traditions Council will be on site distributing candles, but people are asked to bring their own if they can.
A Facebook event has been been established for both of these events on the Texas A&M Fan Page The events are titled "Bonfire Remembrance Program" and "Bonfire Candlelight Vigil". Please go to these events and RSVP, and then invite your friends to help spread the word.
