The whole point of these reconstruction is not that those dorms are, lets face it, hellholes physically, but rather they are the bastions of opposition to the progressive way of thinking. The progressive way of thinking is single gender living is bad, everyone must automatically accept someone, and no sense of honor/tradition/pride should be exhibited. The goal of removing this building and forcing coed gender living is to destroy opposition to this progressive thinking. Believe me a majority of parents dont want this, chances are the students dont want this, and definitely if you cant afford housing you dont want this. So who wants this? Well lets look at the big wigs in reslife. On of which is known for pushing an east coast educational style agenda is Miss Collins. I have set through several of her presentation and I can vouch that her thoughts are not with consistent with the traditional Aggie values but consistent with an east coast school of thought.....more on this later

Yeah, I'm sure it's not about demolishing old cheap (to live in, expensive to operate) dorms in favor of opening a new dorm that is probably going to cost 3 times as much to live in. I'm sure it has nothing to do with a desire to have something new and shiny to show to high school kids with rich parents, among others. I'm sure the move away from single sex dorms has nothing to do with luring those same kids away from off campus places with the prospect of girls. No this must all be a EVIL EAST COAST VALUES plot!1!!1!

Let's face it, as bad as this may be for the on campus community and the Aggie Spirit (to say nothing of Bonfire), the decision had nothing to do with any of that. This was motivated by money, pure and simple.

Oh, and Keegan, sorry I know this is over a month later but: The reason I bring up the gender issue is that while you and I have the benefit of experience with co-ed crews, they do not. Even if they understand that girls will bring the guys out... you'll forgive me if I don't exactly expect crocker chiefs to know how to pull girls.

Based on the shouting match the Crocker chiefs had with Spanky yesterday, I doubt that they even want girls in the woods. But that wouldn't be a problem unless they moved into a co-ed dorm with an established Bonfire crew.

From the "Bonfire Points" stats as of Third Cut:

• Crocker, McInnis, and Moore: 25%

If they move into appelt (or walton, i guess) then it obviously won't be an issue.

Depending on how many of them move, though, they may take up all the spots that would have been occupied by the freshman males. So, there's no freshman guys, and the can't or won't pull freshman girls. I'm not saying you can't have a crew without fish, it's just hard. Beyond that, I can't imagine a healthy crew from a co-ed dorm without girls on it.
