I'm new to the town, the school and all of the traditions. I took my first trip to the bonfire this weekend and I was blown away. The attention to detail and the story the memorial told is just so special. My heart kept getting heavier and heavier as I made my way through the memorial.

It was a surreal feeling riding out the rain shower under the memorial for Jeremy Richard Frampton ‘99 with my wife and sister. We were all just so amazed, and I feel so blessed to be a part of the Aggie family.

Jeremy, Thanks for taking the time to visit the Bonfire Memorial. I was a Crew Chief on Bonfire in '88,'89, and '90. Several years later, a great kid at our church was accepted at t.u. and came to church bragging about it. I knew him pretty well and told him that there was no way I was letting him make this decision until he at least visited A&M. We set up a "Night with the Corps" for him and he never looked back! He was one of the best, most dedicated Aggies I've ever met. The Corps was perfect for this guy! Jerry Don Self was the 11th death pulled from stack. I was fortunate enough to be a part of his funeral and have truly never seen the name of the Lord so unapologetically lifted up at it was at His funeral. Why do terrible things like this happen to guys and gals like those 12 Aggies?...we'll never know. But I can say without a doubt that many souls were changed as a result of how God used the lives of these young people. God, and specifically, Jesus Christ, was a common topic of conversation on campus for months. And I believe many people will join these Aggies in paradise one day as a result.
I still cry when I stand in Jerry Don's arch and read the words. I knew the young man well and know I'll see him again one day.
Wow...how does something as simple as Bonfire stir so many deep emotions? Can't wait to head down again this year!
