I look up random Aggie things...

today it was to see if I could find any more insight to the meaning of "Hullaballoo Canek Canek"

and I came across this new one:

quote:
The Mayan revolutionary Jacinto Canek took his name from the last independent Mayan ruler, and because of him the name was also used as a rallying cry by Mayas in the 19th century Caste War between Mayas and Spanish.

...something tells me if there is any truth to this, there might have been a lot of people yelling before chants of "CANEK! CANEK!" going into battle... but how did something from the Caste War make it into our War Hymn twenty years later?

I think it's supposed to be an onomotopoeia for tanks and guns.
