Commando, it's rained a small amount, but nothing to really write home about.

Given the tough circumstances, a very good plan.

If #2 happens, what's the plan for when we finally do burn it in the spring? Will there be festivities, or just a small private event like last year?

We'll cross that bridge when it comes time. What we will have to evaluate is if there is the potential to generate enough revenue to cover the cost of a full-blown event.

The expense of coordinating the logistics of a full event is quite substantial. If it looks like either:
A. There will not be enough gate revenue to cover it
B. There are not enough donations to cover a large portion of the cost, then it will most likely be a small event

A lot of that hinges on how long it is before the burn ban is lifted. If it goes until July or something crazy, then there may not be enough potential interest to expect a large crowd. However, if it happens by around January, then we might see enough interest to put it on.

At this point, it is "wait and see"

Realistically, is there any real hope for plan #1... or support for a variance?

The map is looking better than it did a few weeks ago:

There is a slight chance for rain in B/CS on Monday and Tuesday, and then again the following weekend. Not trying to wet blanket at all here, but it's going to take some significant rainfall to end the ban. We got nothing in October.

I live 2 miles SSW of site and counting this week I've gotten 7 inches of precip this year...

I wish Bonfire could burn...its just soooo dry...

Per the website... no Burn.

Last week's "big" rain: 1 inch. And high winds have since blown all of that away. The area is 5+ inches low for JUST October and half of November. Even if it were raining Monday and Tuesday (and of course that's forecasted), the conditions just don't look right. This is a historic drought. I for one am proud of how well the organization has weathered it so far. Very Good Bull in the face of some very, very Bad Bull.
