We need to get University Sponsorship again. No matter what form, this needs to come back for our last home game.

Disagree 110% on the "whatever form" part. Sure, it would be nice to have it on campus, but Aggie Bonfire is about more than a stack of pallets. Student Bonfire is doing it the right way.

No, and to my knowledge, no, respectively.

I'm sure something could be put together as far as a band, but to have the same effect and make it worth it, you'd need quite a few people to commit. Being a former bandsman, you might know some people, no? Then again, we like you out of the country during football season, right?

I think you can also dig up an anecdote somewhere on this board about a former Yell Leader who came out several years back and how that went down. It'd be great to have all parties involved, but I think we're just not to that point yet with what we've got.

Disagree 112% with OP; Bonfire needs to stay off of campus. The level of paperwork, bureaucracy, and political correctness would squeeze the Spirit out of Bonfire.

As far as that show Baylol puts on, it's a hilariously stupid attempt to steal one of our traditions. They're the eternal university of "We're a real college now!"

I had originally meant on campus to be equivalent to university sanctioning, but alas, you caught that little mistake, as they are not technically the same.

For the foreseeable future, it looks like A&M won't be playing t.u. anymore. Where does that leave Bonfire? To answer that question, look back to the beginning. Bonfire dates back to 1907. The game with t.u. wasn't formalized as an annual rivalry game until nearly a decade later. It wasn't until 1921 that A&M held a pre-game "rally" for the game. In my estimation, there have probably been active Buttpots since '04. I'm not sure what you mean by official, but the fact that the names aren't published on the website probably answers a certain portion of that question.

I guess condoned would have been a better word... I am feeling better about all this. Thanks for assuaging some of my concerns by reducing my ignorance.
