I know the published time is 2:42 but I've think it actually fell before that. Does 2:28 sound right?

Yes. 2:42 was the first emergency call from site, if I remember correctly.

It was 2:28.

I was at the field by 2:50 after seeing the collapse on the TV in my dorm room, waking a few other guys in Hotard up, changing into my grodes, and running to the field. No way that all happened in 8 minutes.

A NY Times article the day after the collapse reports 2:28 as well.

And the time doesn't sound right. It took someone 14 minutes to call 911? No way.
