The other night, I realized that the Unity Project burned in Fall 2002, and it will soon be Fall 2012.

Granted, the name of the event wasn't the same, there wasn't the "wedding cake" design, and things were much different. However, I'd argue that those guys and gals were working with the same Spirit that embodies Student Bonfire to this day.

So, does that make this fall the 10th anniversary of Student Bonfire? Or, at the very least, the 10th Anniversary of post-collapse Bonfire?

Regardless, I think there's definite grounds for us to pause and reflect on our first decade and how far we've come as an organization. Thanks, Gig 'Em, and Build the Hell!

Heddy, that is a terrific idea. But to expand on your suggestion; commemorate the ideals, spirit, grit, and fortitude that those young men and women had a decade ago.

We should always be mindful of how far the organization has come, and most importantly, what we can do to perpetuate SB's success.

It was the same organization. In fact, one of our 2003 T-shirts even had "UNITY PROJECT" in small letters above "STUDENT BONFIRE".

This morning, I realized that this year is a bigger anniversary. Bonfire burned 89 times (1909-1998 except 1963) before the collapse, and this will be the 11th one off-campus. That makes 100

This year marks the 10 year anniversary of Student Bonfire (2002-2012) and 20 years since the first Aggie Bonfire on the polo field (1992-2012).
