and my roving reporter on site...

4 of the 5 Commissioners are willing to meet, according to Commissioner Sims.

Rick Perry also just called the Courthouse.

More updates as I get them...

Okay, the notice for the 5 PM meeting was just posted.

The injuction was contingent upon that meeting happening. If the meeting did not occur, the injunction would have been automatically lifted.

Bonfire would have then been subject to the $500 fine for violating the burn ban, but no extinguishing would have occurred.

Stay tuned.

After reading through the court order, and the subsequent legal documentation regarding the Burn Ban for Brazos County, there's a way around the Commissioners, but it involves the Texas Forest Service, which happens to be run by Texas A&M.

It's a longshot, but they can pre-empt the Burn Ban with or without the Commisioner's Office approval

All you Aggies that are working on the bonfire better send a letter of thanks to the judge.

He was forced to apply the burn ban, but he did what he could in that order to allow the commissioner's to meet and allow the bonfire.

For those of you who are not familar with court orders, the plaintiff would have presented the typed order to the judge for signature, and the judge would have written in the handwritten language.

You can tell from what he put in the order that: 1. he was disappointed with the county judge for his timing, and 2. he wanted to find a way to help the bonfire burn.

the date of the bone fire was set for November 19, 2005.

No wonder they didn't want this to happen...we're burning a bunch of bones.
