They'd send a Cardinal Elector who is forbidden to speak to anyone. If they must (to book a flight for example), anyone they talk to would be sworn to secrecy as well. He would find you and tell you that you need to accompany him to the Vatican, but wouldn't be able to tell you why. You'd then have to travel to Rome to accept or decline in person.
I didn't want to be elected pope until you described that.

Correct. They don't do black smoke after ever ballot. During these full day sessions, the votes are consecutive so they just burn all morning ballots and all evening ballots together

will be interesting to see how long this one takes not necessarily because of division in the church but by the fact that many of these new cardinals do not know each other. it's a fascinating time in the church.AtticusMatlock said:

Interesting observation by Bishop Barron that the longer it goes on, they more likely it will be a "compromise" candidate. His hope is that it will be someone not identified as left or right but rather someone who brings unity. My prayer as well.
