I'm thinking of making a small wooden cross with a shepherds crook attached to the front as going away gift for a pastor. However, I would not want this to be received as sacrilegious. He is Southern Baptist but pretty ecumenical in a lot of way. He loves studying Church history and led a study on John and Charles Wesley a couple years ago, for example.

Does anyone have thoughts on this?

This is pretty cool. You have the royal, kingship and good shepherd symbol with the shepherd's crook.

Also the greatest symbol of Love and Victory in the cross.

You should see the one the Pope uses. There's a story there. Nice gift!

Even if the particular pastor somehow finds this objectionable to display for some reason, I don't see how anyone wouldn't appreciate the sentiment.
It takes a special kind of brainwashed useful idiot to politically defend government fraud, waste, and abuse.
