Yeah I don't really care about gibbons creek but it matches the thread and I think chatter will decrease over time vs starship etc.

It will also expand spacex' political reach locally around BCS and Texas though.

Glad you took it in the spirit it was intended since I forgot the winky face. I think there is a legit connection, but can see where people looking for space launch stuff may not be interested in land deals.

So is it just the slightly skewed perspective from where the camera is sitting or was there less flame coming out of the left side of the trench? Probably just the persective. I assume it was a successful test since they seem to be preparing to stack Ship 39 on top this afternoon.

Yeah, every time I see one of those longer duration SFs, my mind goes to the loads being reduced down to a relatively small number of bolts and welds that are the only thing keeping that rocket from trying to drag that whole launch stand into the air.

Well you see, it's in the procedure. They have to have one of the guys strum/thwump the hold downs and say, "Nope! That aint going anywhere!"

Otherwise, you're right! If they miss that step, it's going to be one heck of a mess!

Apparently 220-240 yards is too close for a suburban.


I guess their gear/cameras were mounted to it but I'm surprised they parked that close anyway. I would like to think they wouldn't file an insurance claim over this.

Well, I've been there and seen it so I had foreknowledge. There used to be a pewter colored suburban that sat on the beach that was taking a shot almost 180 from this one. I haven't driven down the beach in a while so I'm not 100% sure and if it's still there or not.

I'm really surprised the vehicle wasn't considered a security risk for being left there during the test. Maybe security personnel were familiar with the person and did not consider him a risk.

This is akin to being surprised a construction equipment rental company would rent a bulldozer to a construction company and being surprised they'd take it to an active construction site.

Filming video content of space stuff is what these people do for a living and SpaceX has the resulting live streams playing on TVs in the assembly facilities.

I knew filming SpaceX stuff was a cottage industry, so it should not be a surprise that space influencers (I just made that up) are willing to take a calculated risk to get a money shot. Obviously, they use old cars and equipment they don't mind losing.

I'm still surprised security doesn't clear out the area more. That Suburban from the recent test firing was right next to the SpaceX pad.

Yep, pretty sure even Elon said at one point that he used either NSF or LabPadre to keep tabs on what was going on sometimes. SpaceX has permitted this from day one...one of their more endearing qualities is going along with this kind of stuff knowing that it keeps the public engaged and (mostly) rooting for them.
