Lol. Their salary alone puts them ahead of about 95% of the rest of the country, and that's not including their allowance, pension, etc.

Just in recent, off the cuff memory, DC Dan Cringeshaw has done the following:
- Vote for a federal vaccine database that costs $400MM
- out perform Pelosi in 2021 stock market gains
- call Jesus a hero archetype like Superman & be a complete dick to the young lady asking him about that statement
- claim congressman as victims that are underpaid
what am I missing?
Ok, let's make a deal. We increase the salary to $250K, but implement term limits and forbid all stock trading while an active member and one year after leaving office.MouthBQ98 said:
I'd argue he is correct in the terms of congress isn't paid enough in straightforward compensation to attract the best people to the job, such that the true incentive is any plausibly legal but unethical or corrupt means to extract wealth from such a position of authority is the true incentive.
In a competition between ~200K for doing the work for their voting constituents and vastly more from special interests in long term election support and or in promises of delayed or indirect reward, the voter isn't winning.
The question is if increasing the compensation matters. If it would draw in a bigger pool of better candidates, or if it would just be more income for the egomaniacs that want the position mostly for status and self gratification regardless of financial reward.
I'm not sure paying more would attract better enough better people to matter because you already need a huge ego and big money backing to even run.
But, his argument isn't entirely without merit. Bits just a little simplistic and unrealistic in the current political environment.

Who here would agree to cut their current salary in half (or ****, even give it up altogether) in exchange for legal and unlimited insider trading?????
I sure as **** would.
Very much so. I'm not a pitchman for Michael Berry, but if you want to hear his shows on your time, check out his podcast on Spotify "or wherever you get your podcasts."suburban cowboy said:SW-14 said:I don't get to listen to him much anymore, but I remember he was a huge backer when Crenshaw was running the first time. Nope, F that. They are in a position to make decisions that will affect stocks. I rather that not be how they make legislative decisions.Hungry Ojos said:

I think that AOC $174,000 is making way more than she is worth.
And is it me or is Dan Crenshaw just getting dumber by the day.

Contrarian opinion: IF we could offer politicians an option to freeze all alternative revenue sources FOR LIFE and pay them $1M per year while in office and $250k in perpetuity once out of office... it would ultimately be cheaper and better for the American taxpayer.
