She looks like a Good girl. I feel for you, annie. Losing one of your best and most loyal friends after such a long time is never easy.

I went to a wedding last June and asked my brother to come over to check on the dogs before we got back. He called us the day we were supposed to fly home and said that he walked in and she was suffering in pain and he had to make the choice to taker her to an after hours clinic and put her down. Luckily, I told the kids to give her lots of love and attention before we left because she was getting old and I had a "feeling". Her hearing was almost completely gone along with a lot of her vision.

3 months later, we lost our other dog who was losing weight. She started losing weight after Olive passed a few months earlier and while she was comfortable I told myself I had decision to make, so I laid down on my bed with her by my side and after I woke up from an hour nap, she was gone.

We don't deserve dogs. I still cant post this without tears welling up in my eyes.

Thank you, I was lying with mine too when the doctor helped her along. It really helps to say goodbye. I lost my first dog about 5 years ago, and then my cat a few years after her, still miss them too.

I'm sorry for your losses too.

Very nice. That dog is a puppy? That's crazy. He's so big. Nice looking kid you got there, too.

I have an alley cat that walks with us when we go for a walk (6 dogs,1 cat). I have another cat that belongs to a neighbor that sleeps on my bed with my dogs. When he isn't here, my cat, Sammy sleeps with my dogs. I think it's great that dogs can behave with cats, as you have shown in the photo.

Funny you say that because that cat 'Kinder' was a feral kitten and he give zero ****s about everything. He doesn't hiss, scratch kids or scared of anything. He's the most badass cat I've ever had. He's named Kinder because I picked Michael up from after school care his first day of kindergarten and these feral kittens ran under the pier and beam house when I approached. They came back out while I was putting him in his car seat and they came back out so Michael said go get my kitty daddy. I couldn't disappoint so I went up to them, and it was raining, but they ran under the house. I humored him and suck my hand under the house while looking back at Michael and calling 'meow, meow, meow'. No way in hell that cat would approach, but how was I wrong. That kitten came and sat in my hand. He called my bluff and I'm glad he did. He's the best cat ever.

I am very familiar with this situation. Except for the horn honking, whenever I leave my car to go somewhere, when I return, one of my dogs is sitting in the driver's seat. Always! And I always offer to let them drive us home.

Years ago (80's, I think) on the Tonight Show, they had a comedy video of a dog driving a car. The dog would brake for dogs crossing the road and step on the gas for cats crossing the road.

I always get tears in my eyes from stories like this - tears of joy along with sadness.

Last month, a beautiful orange cat came limping by my back gate. Apparently a dog got ahold of it (gender unknown) but it broke my heart seeing its condition. I picked it up and brought it into the house. Next to my computer I have a pet bed on the cabinet onto which I lay the cat. I brought it food and milk which it gladly consumed. It slept the rest of the day, but after eating another meal, it went outside and walked to the house across the street.

The next morning, as the other cats I feed rushed into the house, this little baby came along for a second shot of happiness. I fed it again with lots of love. After another day of restful sleep, it left, never to return. I was disappointed but not surprised.

A few days later, my good neighbor said that he found it dead in the alley the night before. Although the cat wasn't mine, it saddened me for the loss. I was just pleased that I could afford this creature two days of happiness (including lots of ear rubs) before it left this earth. It might have been the only days that it enjoyed during its life.

You have a good soul my friend. The world needs more people like you.

One of my son's cat died 2 weeks ago today. He lived a long (15 yrs) spoiled life. When I buried him, I couldn't just put him into a hole, so I buried him on the pillow of mine he always napped on.
