Has post Malone been relevant in anything in the past few years?
Don't know much about him but isn't he the idiot with the face tats?
Yes, and some ridiculous metal dentures or something, from what I can tell part of his bit is looking as hideous/ridiculous as possible. I liked a couple of his songs around 5 years ago. I don't keep up with hollywood though, so maybe he is still a big deal etc. I don't really care, obviously, and am not a target audience/customer for BL...

Post Malone is definitely still huge. He's actually been performing a lot of country lately and its been pretty cool. And by all accounts great guy

New posty / gilly commercial hit streaming I've noticed.

Great ad. I wonder if it will convert to sales, or if they accidentally pushed their core customer base into preferring non-piss-beers

I haven't seen a non Hispanic person drink BL since this all went down and the Hispanics I see drinking it are few and far between

Bud Light as a brand has certainly corrected the course.
Their branding and commercials are back on point. Bud Light IS a party beer. It's cheap, it has little to no real taste, and it's not filling. Is it going to win over people that want a heavy dark beer or a fuller lager or an IPA? Of course not.

Bud Light want's people to grab a couple rounds at the ball park. They want people to fill their cooler for a day on the lake. They want folks to grab a case that for the communal cooler at the block party.

That's who and what they are. It's a beer you can drink off and on all day long.

They probably will never win back the customers they lost. At this point, they're looking for customer replacement. Those they lost are buying Coors, Miller, or Yuengling now. The foundational shift in shelf space and customer preference is likely now permanent.

A buddy of mine who was a huge Bud Light fan switched to Coors because of this. He was even defiant when we made fun of him in the beginning. He said he didn't care and would drink BL forever. Then the peer pressure got to him and he's not one to bow to peer pressure.

It's a big thing when blue collar guys have to look over their shoulder when they order a Bud light. Modelo was the biggest winner in all of this.

Not much news, but I see former BL employee blames DEI.
Quote:

Former Anheuser-Busch exec trashes Bud Light's Dylan Mulvaney partnership: Not 'authentic at all'

A former Anheuser-Busch executive criticized the company's decision to partner with Dylan Mulvaney, saying it wasn't "authentic at all."

"The problem with the Bud Light-Dylan Mulvaney partnership was they just were not an authentic partnership at all," Anson Frericks told Fox News Digital. "They were catering to a lot of those special interests."

Frericks began his career at Anheuser-Busch in 2011 and was with the company for over a decade. He told Fox News Digital he realized he needed to leave when DEI was preventing the brand from making what should have been no-brainer business decisions, like partnering with veteran-owned Black Rifle Coffee.

"I joined a company that I thought was a great meritocracy, and then I saw the company really change, especially after 2020, 2021, when the DEI movement was really gaining steam," Frericks said.

The former executive left the company before the controversial 2023 partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney.
Desperate attempt to win back customers. Nope.

It's amazing(at least the grocery stores I have been to all over)how much display space bud light has lost in the coolers. Sometimes even moved to harder to access areas of refrigeration.

I never understood why people liked Bud Light. I guess they just had good branding before all this went down. Now they have nothing. For the times I want light beer you stated, I'd choose Miller > Coors > Yuengling >>>>>>>> Bud Light.

I don't drink, and never have, but from friends who do/did in the past:

1) cheap
2) got them drunk

Of course, now with so many craft beers, etc, there are a gillion better choices as to flavor.

How old are you? They had the best commercials for decades and usually had the best Super Bowl ads. It was the best example of a bland product succeeding solely due to brilliant marketing I've ever seen.

That's what makes it so ironic that they went with the absolute worst possible marketing decision in history.

Difficult as hell to regain space / facings in grocery store coolers / shelves once you have lost them to competitors.

Bud Light has a big hill to climb. And might never make the ascent.

They'll never get back the customers they lost. Never. They're gone forever.

I've said it before...
Bud Light is for the most part a party beer. It's cheap. It's easy drinking (fairly bland). It's non-filling so you can drink a lot of it (if that's your thing). It's a beer people start with when they've got a friend that's a little older. It's a beer people start with when they know that one gas station the guy doesn't check. It's that beer people start with when they've got their brothers old DL.

It's a beer you get a keg of at a college dorm/frat/block party. It's a beer you get a case of to float the river.

Some customers, many on this board, get a few bucks in their pocket and find an alternative; a craft beer or a microbrew, whatever. Bud Light knows they'll always lose those customers. They're fine losing those customers. Shoot some of them switch to other products they make or have ownership stakes in.

What Bud Light didn't want to lose was that blue collar drinker that grabs a sixer on his way home every evening. What Bud Light didn't want to lose was that case the host of the crawfish boil picked up for the community cooler.
What Bud Light didn't want to lose was that guy at the ball park (with limited options) that wants a beer and dog

Those customers are NEVER coming back. All they can do is replace them. Someday... But even there, they've lost a lot of them to Miller Lite or Coors. A lot of those future customers know what dad keeps in the fridge or what dad puts in the cooler for those work days at the ranch or the lease.

They've lost most of them to Mich Ultra that is 55% of all beer sales at my small bar ($70-80k in monthly sales).

Not "good" but excellent...they were water cooler conversations for many of their campaigns. Without that they're just another beer that doesn't taste like anything. But they had to go woke and we all know what happened next.
