He's right, you know.
Merz has to let the greens run their energy policy to stay in charge, or AfD would take over. So, more long-term economic suicide. I read yesterday they tore down yet another of their newest coal plants in the name of their faith.
Interestingly/ironically, tying to the current censorship craze coming from the EU/Nato, that is Heiko Maas pictured, who after Brexit and Trump's (first) election would become the first real censorship czar in the block (German justice minister at the time).

Germany will become a test laboratory
In this climate, as Benz describes it, the then Federal Minister of Justice Heiko Maas (SPD) took up the ideas and implemented them in German law in 2017 with the Network Enforcement Act (NetzDG). Officially, it was about "hate speech and incitement," but in reality, it was the first censorship law of its kind worldwide: platforms had to delete "illegal content" within a few hours otherwise, they faced fines in the millions.

Interference in elections
In 2020, this complex reached the heart of US politics. According to Benz, during the election campaign, "eight out of ten Trump tweets" were blocked a shocking moment in the White House. Under President Biden, the administration expanded these programs even further to prepare for the European Digital Services Act. Benz puts it drastically:
"It's like building a huge political influence machine and then handing it over to a foreign country."
