was definitely way off on that one. Trump winning the election and effect on the Paramount desired merger changed the entire dynamic of negotiations.
as I said earlier this year:

I may turn out to be very wrong on the result here. You have to hand it to Trump. He's masterfully played this. I highly doubt the Paramount sale has ever been expressly mentioned, but these execs know how the game is played.
Did they settle or agree to mediate? The news reports are they started mediation today. (Which likely ends with a settlement, but I have not seen a report its happened yet)
The first 17 minutes and 12 seconds of M Kelly's podcast rips CBS and 60 Minutes like I've never seen.
Yes, it's thorough, provable, and truthful. Based on the law as I understand it, Trump wouldn't have won this suit and CBS is bending the knee to get their future business addressed.
However, they frickin' deserve it. And way more than this settlement amount, more like 20 times this settlement amount.
Y'all will enjoy this (well, except for our resident communists here who love withholding the full truth).

Loved the answer "then why did they pay millions if they weren't wrong?"
Refer them to the Dominion v Fox thread.
Companies pay money all the time even when they think they are not in the wrong!
I know there are other reasons Fox settled, but one of them is Rupert Murdoch was born about two years before Moses and would have very likely made a terrifically bad witness on the stand. I think he's 90 plus these days.

CBS agreed to mediate with Donald Trump over a totally frivolous lawsuit he brought relating to 60 Minutes coverage. Well, guess what? That glorified bribe didn’t buy them peace, because he just suggested the FCC revoke CBS’s broadcast license. Weakness always backfires guys. pic.twitter.com/NJ7JkeShit
I have long thought Trump would pull the broadcast licenses for at least CBS and NBC. Its long overdue.
If you see the "newsfeeds" of these guys (and ABC as well) its all blatantly biased. There is no sincere attempt to provide opposing viewpoints and analysis.
I absolutely believe this should be done and done soon. Its long overdue.
However, they frickin' deserve it. And way more than this settlement amount, more like 20 times this settlement amount.
What is the settlement amount?
I haven't seen it yet.
In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if the agreement is secret.
Personally, I doubt it's $10 million, or maybe less. As much damage as the big three did from 2016 to 2021, and still continue to do, it doesn't bother me, even though I suspect the courts would have thrown it out.

60 Minutes is all in. 60 Minutes literally tried to portray Democrat hitman and so called election lawyer Marc Elias as a victim of President Donald Trump's supposed retaliation against law firms without once mentioning Elias's sordid background. This is this literal architect of the money laundering scheme that HRC used to fabricate the Steele Dossier and Russiagate scandal out of thin air. What a load of crap and 60 Minutes is leading the way.
When Mark Elias gets on 60 mins to attack Pres Trump on behalf of Dem lawyers, you know someone pulled strings to get him the interview on the failing program. Did I mention he is a former Perkins Cole partner. Dem grifter. pic.twitter.com/zIhWERYrJY

No one has seen it. Because so far a settlement has not been reached.
Paramount Global and President Trump are currently engaged in "good faith, advanced, settlement negotiations" to resolve a lawsuit filed by Trump against CBS News for deceptively editing a "60 Minutes" interview with then VP Harris. Trump is seeking $20B.https://t.co/rJ19CRJE9Z
”2/ $17 million donation to Trump’s presidential foundation or museum… It would also include millions more in legal fees and public service announcements on Paramount-owned networks to fight antisemitism

"Money to fight antisemitism". That's going to really make certain people mad as hell.
It would be nice to have that money go towards an exhibit in Trump's museum about how the MSM has had their knives out for Orange Man since he was elected for his first term.

"Paid for by CBS"
There's a section in Bill Clinton's Presidential Library trailer by the river, that was called something like "The Politics of Personal Persecution."
His son-in-law, Jared Kushner is Jewish (orthodox). Presumably CBS also lied about Israel/Jews/Hamas/Columbia 'protests' etc, because it's been a big topic and I am sure some program like 60-minutes dealt with the topics, and they are never honest about anything.
From Fox story, bolded part is huge news and all networks should follow
Quote:
Trump will receive $16 million upfront. This will cover legal fees, costs of the case, and contributions to his future presidential library or charitable causes, to be determined at Trump's discretion.
There is an anticipation that there will be another allocation in the mid-eight figures set aside for advertisements, public service announcements, or other similar transmissions, in support of conservative causes by the network in the future, Fox News Digital has learned. With these considerations, CBS would pay well in excess of the $15 million ABC paid Trump to settle a defamation lawsuit last year. Current Paramount management disputes the additional allocation.
Sources close to the situation told Fox News Digital that CBS has agreed to update its editorial standards to install a mandatory new rule. Going forward, the network will promptly release full, unedited transcripts of future presidential candidates' interviews. People involved in the settlement talks have referred to this as the "Trump Rule."
Their obstinate refusal to do that with the Kamala interview really burned what little was left of their reputation in the eyes of many I believe. I've had zero respect for them since Dan Rather's team cooked up the fake documents on MS Word about George W Bush, and then defended it when busted as 'fake, but accurate.'
Took a legal settlement to mandate more transparency @60Minutes@CBSNews in the future
• 16 million will be allocated to PresidentTrump's future presidential library + plaintiffs' fees, costs. • Prompt release presidential candidate interview transcripts in the future • No… pic.twitter.com/fpzOqjnz4z
I don't blame Bill Owens for getting out. I don't think there's anything in the interview that was egregiously doctored or misrepresented. When you get the chance to interview someone like a presidential candidate, you often get way more information than you have time or space to make available, so you make edits accordingly.
Legacy media used to fight these kinds of lawsuits because they know the impression it gives when you settle. When the bean-counters overrule the newsroom, you make concessions and you look like you're admitting an error, which a lose-lose situation for a newsroom.

The whole world saw their error. What is a lose-lose for newsrooms is trying to run an entertainment company and not a news company. I hope the lawsuits continue and the USAID money is shut off. Then maybe we can get some balance.
