There won't be any more Presidents after Trump makes himself Emperor. Haven't younguys been watching the news??? I've got some stuff you should read about Project 2025.

What's insane to me is that there are people out there that truly believe that…

As a Righty, pro-Trump voter myself, over my dead body will he, or anyone else, get more than their allotted time in office…

Why do people believe the opposite?
Because sadly there are still millions how believe everything the legacy media tells them and they think Trump is literally Hitler, heck, probably worse. That reminds me, I need to start investing in pharma companies that make anti-depressants.

Who do you think is the next Republican president?

Desantis
JD Vance
Eric Trump
Vivek
Tim Scott

Most likely non of the above. The media will give credit to Biden and say his policies took 2 years to work and now they are working the way Biden intended them to.

Vance
Desantis

JD Vance. He is the exact opposite of the current VP. He is ready now.
Actually he isn't ready at all. He is a good speaker and he is smart. He has accomplished nothing. He will likely be the nominee but he is very inexperienced and not tested. Hopefully he learns in the next few years.

I really like sanders also, but if it goes as the hypo in OP contemplates, Vance is a shoo-in. He won't even get any real challenge

Totally agree with that, and with that in mind this country is better with her as governor.

A JD / Tulsi ticket would be solid.
The love affair with wanting a liberal as VP is just mind boggling to me. I like Tulsi but I don't want her as President. Some of you folks never learn.

Desantis, Vance and Vivek are three of the smartest politicians to ever lead on the right.

Any of them would be outstanding.
Agreed. I'd like to see Sarah Huckabee Sanders as a part of the team of the eventual candidate in some capacity.

Vance may get a shot early, it would not surprise me if they hire better assassins going forward or if Trump has medical issues before his four years expire.

He was 4 years removed from office... The curse it about sitting VPs. Vance is likely toast.

This is correct.

Nixon as incumbent VP lost, then later won.

George HW Bush is the only incumbent VP to win since Martin Van Buren, I believe.

Maybe things will be different now, since we won't be talking about 8 years of VP incumbency.

However, I do think there is some inherent bias against VPs.
Maybe something like, "if you're so great, why didn't you win the nomination and election as president?"

I've become a big Vance fan, but I'm not sure he'll have a chance to show his executive skills like Desantis has.

Youngkin is a solid Governor but we can do better. Was not impressed with him in his Town Hall, he gets weak kneed when pushed. Need someone who is a confident conservative and can explain an issue and defend it.

People like Vance and he's about to get 4 years of campaign time. Will be tough for anyone to take him down.

Desantis will not be gov for the final 2 years right?
Really hope DeSantis has a cabinet or equally influential position in the 47 admin the moment he leaves the Governorship. And Trump should regularly seek his advice before. Especially on election systems that work.

Wouldn't Donald Trump, Jr., the oldest son, be next in line for succession to the throne? After all, Trump is going to declare himself emperor. Haven't you heard?

Honestly the Republican Party has a lot of good, younger up and comers to chose from. It's refreshing.

Vance, DeSantis, Youngkin, Scott, Vivek,… all good choices.

If GOP Tulsi can convince us she's really a conservative in the next 4 years, she'd be a FORCE, but I suspect she's more likely a confidante for VP in 28.

For the Dems the bull pen is nowhere near as promising. Newsome probably has the inside track but you can't get more "woke" than California and woke just got dunked on hard. Shapiro certainly helps them with the map, Moore has the biggest potential to draw a larger black turnout, and Witmere may be the only woman less likeable than both Harris and Hilldawg.

Excellent suggestion. In fact, do it now by proxy. "DeSantis --- draw up a monograph and design a functional DHS and FEMA. I will then order it put into effect at once."

The best 2 choice for putting in lasting change would be DeSantis/Reynolds. They have fundamentally reshaped their states and made them essentially permanently Red. Both are brilliant and ruthless and appeal bigtime to the Suburban vote that controls the Swing vote and would destroy any Democrat.

So of course we need to choose a shiny object of someone who is so new to the GOP they voted for Hillary and spent at least 30 years of being a Democrat buying into Democrat BS because they have been Red Pilled so we need to put them at the front of the line. We should probably demonize folks like DeSantis/Reynolds as well and call them Bushies and NeverTrumpers while glorifying the people that actually did hate Trump but have converted.

Tell me where I am wrong.

If you are putting DeSantis in this Admin he should be AG. Would absolutely clean house. Dude has taken down the Left over and over in the Courts, absolutely brilliant lawyer.

In the example you gave, Vance. No worthwhile Republican will challenge a sitting republican VP.

I'd never heard of the Van Buren curse. Apparently, VPs have almost never been elected as presidents. I'd like to see what Desantis could do as the chief executive. His performance in FL has given me governor envy.
This is very true...

Quote:

The office of vice presidentthe second-highest position in the executive branch, and first in the constitutional line of successionmight seem like a good launching pad for a politician with aspirations of attaining the nation's highest office. But relatively few vice presidentsjust 15 of the 49 who served between 1789 and 2021became president, and eight of those did it by taking over after the death of a president, while another, Gerald R. Ford, rose to the office when his predecessor, Richard M. Nixon, resigned. Only six vice presidents managed to get elected president on their own.

Fantasy Football Politics. Good for entertainment when you have time to kill, but absurdly presumptuous.
9/11, Katrina, Covid, Ukraine... it's a great big stupid world, and we're never really sure if we're up or down. Earthquakes, plagues, wars and rumors of wars...

Even with the OP hypothetical, it only takes one leaked screenshot or recording of one side comment to utterly destroy a public figure.
