"Tuesday was another electoral blowout in which Democrats underperformed expectations, weakening their case that Texas is a battleground state worthy of investment and attention from the national party."

The Texas Tribune has been melting down since the election. Maybe they should start reporting both sides instead of being Democrat Pravda. The Texas Tribune is extremely disconnected from the kitchen table issues that Texans care about. If you look at the list of majors donors to the Texas Tribune, you will find out why they are so out of touch.

Maybe Tribune could argue they could try dropping a gender-bender, open border, crime-favoring, warmonging agenda?

That didn't hunt. Not even with the Center Left.

There needs to be a true conservative Texan alternative to Texas Monthly and Tribune

One that celebrates ALL the things real Texans care about from hunting to football to BBQ and looks at issues real Texans care about from their own view rather than exclusively that of the People's Republik of Austin

Texas Democrats should obviously double down on what they are doing: blaming the white, suburban/exurban/rural evangelical hetero-patriarchy for all their problems.

Texas monthly is responsible for the dumb ass Sausage Kolache/Klobasnik argument. The bakery they originated at had them under Kolache. Both terms are correct and was never an issue growing up in a Czech family. You can also call them pigs or piggies. People with as much Czech blood as Elizabeth Warren has Native American are the only idiots who debate Sausage Kolache as incorrect

They're successfully building the answer for that but few are noticing. They're owning school board after school board elections in conservative areas like a cancer. They are brainwashing the next generation of Texans through our education system and we need to address this starting yesterday or it will be a huge problem.

Start teaching kids to treat school as a mandated game delay, but something to forget once graduating. The less stock they put in it outside the hard facts parts, the better.

I'd support this for the first year if someone wanted to start sumpin. The thing is, they both do good journalism that would be intriguing to read but for the libtard POV. Find and hire the Texas Lib-une equivalent of normal people - maybe even, gasp, people from Texas and not smug, bi-coastal wannabies! - who tell our state's stories well and you've got a winning formula.

Lol. I also think the Bexar County Dem chair was forced to apologize for saying the national party's focus on trans stuff hurt the party in Texas. T rannies came out in force and made him bow down. Old Hispanic guy.

They went overkill on ads. Honestly, I think the saturation pissed people off and motivated the R base

Most of all, supporting open borders and embracing freaks has killed them.

If Texas is a red state, maybe the Texas Tribune should be writing about conservative/republican issues rather than left-wing issues. This is obvious isn't it?

How the heck did I not know about this site? I've been looking for Texas political news without having to wade through the left-propaganda BS. Looks awesome at first glance.

'The Texan' states it is basically an opinion-free Texas politics website, so no BBQ stories etc which it seems they could get into if needed for more interest. The other ones do a decent job with the frilly stuff so.....
Pretty sure most of you don’t know me.

Here's the thing about using trans issues as campaign fodder - Studies have repeatedly shown anti-trans ads or campaign messaging is not effective in moving voters in favor of the candidate using that messaging. Ted Cruz can point to all the money he spent on anti-trans ads and claim they contributed to his victory, but it was a race he was going to win regardless.

We can contrast that with an actual competitive race, Texas Congressional District 34, where there was also a ton of anti-trans messaging being used by the incumbent, Republican Mayra Flores. It was as significant a portion of her messaging as it was for Cruz, but unlike Cruz, Flores lost to her Democratic opponent.

What Hinojosa is trying to do is deflect from all of his widespread failures by blaming the losses on these two single issues. As a glaring example of his intentional blindness on the issues, he should have taken a look at Harris County where Dems got hammered on the issue of crime and "catch and release" in the criminal courts.

You could have made this thread about the Tribune/Monthly 30 years ago. Same crap just change the names.

Here's a fairly recent one from last month:
https://www.dataforprogress.org/blog/2024/10/23/voters-prefer-candidates-who-are-supportive-of-transgender-rights-think-recent-political-ads-have-gotten-mean-spirited-and-out-of-hand

They do a lot of polling on progressive issues and have a pretty strong record of accuracy. Crosstabs are at the bottom of the page so you can see their methodology for yourself.

A left-wing think tank? Will have to consider the source on that one. Also appears to be a REALLY white poll weighted towards Dem voters. And that's not really a study. It's a poll.

Anymore "studies?" You said "repeatedly."

I hope the left keeps living in denial of how people feel about these extreme stances on social issues.
