It's about time. We have leverage and have been way too chicken **** to use it. I will gladly pay more for goods if we get these kind of results. At least I know my money would be actually benefitting the country.

I am one of those who tends to believe that China learned from the Opium Wars. Pretty much all of fentanyl precursors is state subsidized and introduced. Fentanyl is a strategic weapon to the Chinese and to date, incredibly effective. I don't dismiss that line of thinking out of hand, because to be absolutely honest, I would do the same thing in their shoes.

I don't think tariffs are the answer to everything, but in this case, it is AN answer. In an area where there simply hasn't been one previously, period. Let's just see how it plays out first in effectiveness before we start casting stones everywhere.

For my TLDR version: China is explicitly and knowingly facilitating, aiding, and encouraging the manufacturing and sale of fentanyl to foreign countries but especially America in order to sow chaos and weaken us as a nation. They also lie about it and protect those who get caught in the act. We, as in America, needs to address this aggressively at every approach and right the hell now. This investigation concluded in April of this year.

On January 20, new tariffs are in place or we have huge slowdown in illegals and drugs. He can't throw this out and not follow through with it.

Lol at all the big spending, transitory inflation folks worried about the cost of tariffs. Trump is giving them a chance to put things in order before he is inaugurated. If they don't, they will soon afterwards because they can't afford to take the economic hit.

Maybe a little short term pain for some long term gain.

The products won't even make it to shelf because the market will adjust and source from non-tarriff impacted similar goods.

That's kind of the entire point of a tarriff....giving people who don't fix their **** a competitive disadvantage.

It's called leverage. We have the most lucrative market on planet Earth. Shutting off access to it would be painful...ergo, people do what we say.
