No, but you don't invade a country and then abandon the people who helped you. We did that in Vietnam. My father's Vietnamese counterpart spent several years in a reeducation camp.
I'm sure he grew to appreciate Jane Fonda and Walter Cronkite over time. Democrats always start these wars that wind up being disasters for our 'allies.' At least it's Europe that has taken in most of the Ukrainian diaspora thus far, this time.

Afghan refugees should have been sent to a neighboring country, and the plan for that should have been in place before Biden's team cut off support for the Afghan Air Force.

Ummm, no.

First there's a 0% chance anyone from the next ****hole we invade will know how all of this was handled. Part of the definition of ****hole is not having the information to know how the U.S. treated locals that tried to help us when we invaded another ****hole 20 years ago.

Second we're going to do exactly what we did in Afghanistan and every other ****hole, we're going to show up with pallets of cash and buy their support. Those people don't help the filthy Americans because they tear up when they see fireworks and can't wait to start their new life in the U.S. They work with us because we pay them infinitely more than they can make on the local economy.
The federal government was never meant to be this powerful.

Clearly you do. You've cited two cases that prove it. Meanwhile I'm thinking there are zero cases of it going another way since we created the global economy. A system does what it's designed to do. Right and wrong doesn't factor into the calculus even a little bit. The entire point is to keep the rest of the world feeding the U.S. economy. We invade these third world ****holes when they get out of line. We fumble around for a few years then cut bait when we get bogged down and it becomes clear we have no clue how to define victory never mind achieve it.

This part I agree with.

I'll say it out loud without making excuses or hedges.

I don't care about a single Afghan in the entire country. They all can stay where they are. That goes for every single Muslim on the entirety of the planet.

I wish you the best from somewhere the **** else (no I don't)

I work with Afghan refugees quite often with my church. We go to their apartment complex and play games with the kids, bring them snacks and snow cones and generally love on them. The moms start to come out and the ladies in our church spend time with them. Next thing you know, the men start to come out as well.

Most of the Afghans I have spoken with helped the US military in some way. They are either here with their family (otherwise they would have been killed) or they got out in an emergency and their family is in hiding while they wait for them to get out with the help of our government.

Many of the kids, moms and some of the men have come to Christ and have amazing testimonies...mainly, they say with Islam only comes destruction and with Christ comes love and saving.

This is what asylum is supposed to be used for...an oppressive government and wants to kill you. While I have empathy for the millions that came from Latin America for economic reasons, our asylum policy should have never been used like that.

We allowed anyone on the planes from Afghanistan who showed up. They weren't vetted at all. Some worked with the US, many did not. We have no idea how many terrorists were among them. And we left some who helped us, along with actual US citizens.

Our asylum policy is not for just anyone, and should only be used as a last resort.

Exactly. And there's a reason 'pro Afghan refugee' comments are reliant entirely on anecdotes; the data is out there in multiple countries, from the UK, Turkey, Australia, the US etc. showing they are a terrible population to import.

That's not gonna change.

Afghanistan is dominated by a grotesque culture, and has the highest (by far) % of the population that seeks sharia law in the world. The use of bacha bazi or young boys for sexual pleasure and sale/rape of young girls, is broadly accepted and just two reasons absolutely zero Afghans should be brought here. If they want to live somewhere else, they can try Pakistan or Bangladesh etc. There are zero 'translators' or 'black hawk pilots' etc. left.

Joe Biden had plenty of time to send them gift cards (and sent millions per month to the Taliban). War's over, Biden surrendered ignominiously (and brought over 100K+ here without any vetting at all), and we don't need any more.

We should send the ones over here back.

i have personally seen this stuff in Houston (IAH) with dozens of obvious middle easterners wearing exact matching outfits with matching duffle bags with matching tags on them.

They always have some American handler(s) with them wearing the organizations acronym. Really seemed hard to believe and then i saw it several more times in 2024. all in terminal B.

One time was an entire family...grandparents to grandkids - likely 20 of them. Most of the others were boys/men aged 16-24 or so.

How anyone was okay with that i'd never know.

I was in line coming back in to the country and waiting for my global entry appointment and the immigration officer was being a massive dick to the us citizens. There was a huge line of "refugees" and he was skipping Americans to process them. Insane that a single foreigner would be placed ahead of a citizen, especially one that was paying an extra fee to the government for an added service.

This is actually very true. Vietnamese tend to do a hell of a job assimilating and tend to be the most conservative and patriotic of the Asian groups, from my experience. Islamists are the absolute worst people for any western country or culture. Get them ini large enough numbers and see what happens. Every. Time.

We shouldn't have been fighting decades long wars over there anyways. But no, I do not want any more followers of the genocidal pedophile who forced a SIX year old girl to be his sex slave. We have way more than enough.

Are they the country with an insanely high % of inbred people, or is that Pakistan or some other Islamic country? Or all of the Islamic countries lol?

So they are now 'illegal', can't get a work permit, can be deported, but they can still apply for asylum,...from their home country, that wants to kill them.

TPS is not permanent, it's right there in the name; temporary. They were brought in as legal guests but now (or more probably prior to this) should apply for asylum or for a different type of visa etc.

I certainly don't want any afghans in my neighborhood/as neighbors. The right thing to do would be for them to 'migrate' to a country near Afghanistan as refugees in a culture more similar to their own (muslim, for one).

As to another's point, if we stop getting into needless wars abroad (and toppling foreign governments a la color revolutions), we can stop worrying about whether our 'partners' there will trust us to take them in when a democrat surrenders and bails out as Obama/Biden have shown in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria etc.
