Just considering in real life, what happens when we begin to dismantle through force, a group of people who have tentacles that extend to thousands who may have a financial stake in the outcome?

You have to give me some slack because of being young during Vietnam. There were a lot of places and things our forces were doing that they were not supposed to be doing, according to the narrative. Some very heroic guys were not awarded the Medal of Honor for many years because the action occurred in the wrong side of a border on a map.
