USAID started out as an aid organization and morphed into a cut-out for the CIA to interfere in foreign elections and overthrow governments. Pretty messed up, but this is how wars are fought these days, not with tanks and planes. No matter how unsavory the actions, we need to continue this type of work abroad.

Unfortunately, USAID turned their attention inwards and started influencing media and interfering in elections domestically for the Democrats. We need to immediately cut out the rot, but the real challenge will be to keep this from happening again in the future. There needs to be more transparency and guidelines around funding NGOs and DAFs.

If we can't stop USAID from being weaponized against its own citizens then it needs to be completely shut down. It may hurt our influence abroad, but it's the price we must pay for freedoms from our own government.

I equate the USAID to the Clinton Foundation. On paper, it checks all the compliance and legislative boxes for being on the up and up, but when you dig a little deeper, it's a giant slush fund. The only difference is the foundation dried up when it became apparent Hillary was unable to leverage favors for cash.

Exactly. And isn't it just a 90-day review? This prof is saying something a RINO would say. The thing is, maybe Elon will find it okay for USAID to deliver food to Somalia. And maybe he will find it not okay to support a transgender opera in Colombia, a program to help disabled Tajikistani become climate change activists, or to ship condoms to Africa. Some things might be good, but to completely call the review "illegal and outrageous" is virtue signaling. It's also absurd.

ANYONE who makes comments like this without ACKNOWLEDGING there has been MIILIONS WASTED should not be taken seriously and actually should be investigated.

If you were to go to any legitimate charity and expose corruption to the CEO, I bet he would be the first to root it out, eliminate those people responsible, and probably press charges.

Blaming Trump and Musk for this is like blaming the school admin for finding weed in your kid's locker at school. "Well, if they would NOT have done searches, they would not have found anything. Johnny volunteers at the shelter and just is a kid trying to go to college"

There are a lot of stupid smart people complaining about Musk and DOGE. All he is doing is looking at these departments. Looking, and auditing for inefficiency and waste.

Anything that is DONE on the basis of the analysis is done within the department itself under authorization of Trump or his current delegate appointed to head the department in question.

Are so many bureaucrats pretending to be ignorant or are they really that ignorant?


I lot of these lifetime bureaucrats are simply angry someone had ripped the lid off and exposed the mess underneath. Incompetence, complacency, corruption, etc.

Without question…but what DOGE and the Executive Branch are doing at this point, is absolutely legal, based on my understanding of everything…and I am confident the deep state realizes this…

I don't think they realized (perhaps arrogance?) that Musk would bring in folks that could crack the safe so quickly…

Shut the organization down completely. Let the rest of the world fill whatever perceived "void" is created by doing so. They can use their own money, we are already broke and wasteful spending outside our borders doesn't help.

I am sure the replacement entity can get funds from donations. Maybe even from an out of touch A&M professor. Surely he has a checkbook or debit card.

Every swamp rat that promotes all the good USAID does (look it says AId right there in the name - which actually stands for Agency for International Development) and doesn't applaud the efforts to clean it up is so disingenuous. It's like saying the serial killer is an OK dude because, "look he visited his grandmother at the nursing home." The media being up in arms also tells you all you need to know.

I agree with many comments that his 30+ year old opinion is practically worthless, particularly coming from a Bush admin member. Still looking for those weapons of mass destruction are ya? USAID has been a CIA front since it's inception. My father flew many of those people into Viet Nam during the early to mid sixties and they weren't there to just build schools. I've no doubt the leftists have been using it and OUR taxes to support leftwing agendas here and elsewhere. Good riddance.
