I was at the Medical Clinic of Houston last week.

They still have their COVID-19 signage up. Lots of folks in there wearing masks, including physicians. Mostly old folks otherwise, but still.

It was like a rewind to April 2020.

Unless they are old or feeble looking I have to suppress a giggle and sometimes don't succeed. I feel of small amount of disdain for the loser because I'm 99% sure he/she was all in on the Covid tyranny of '20-'22.

If they are Chinese then I assume it is what they are used to so no big deal.

If it is just about anyone else I assume they are going through chemo and are trying to take every available precaution to protect their immune system, even if it has been proven to provide no benefit.

If it is someone with blue, green or purple hair I keep my concealed carry ready because they more than likely have a mental illness.

My family has gone to a few amusement parks over the years and we have noticed that amusement parks must be considered a safe place for the non-traditional individual. Lots of lint lickers, trannies, mask wearers.....

Just got back from Sea World this weekend and the verbiage typed above is again confirmed. And by the way, the Killer Whale show is outstanding. The show was emotional without the politics.

I never saw masks before Covid. Maybe a rare occasion. But let's not act like this was common before 2020.

It's flu season and we are getting nailed with every respiratory illness under the sun right now at work. If I was sick and just had to go to work or the store, I'd consider a mask out of respect for those I'm about to be around.

If I was immunocompromised right now or elderly, I'd probably be masked in public, especially right now. Walking pneumonia has been a big one, speaking of the elder.

Let's go back over the facts for a minute.

People catch a cold or flu when reaching a certain viral load. Different for different people.
Masks don't stop viruses from being breathed in…….but they can reduce the number. The degree depends on the type of mask. From N95 to a useless bandana mask.

End result: if you're around someone with cold/flu, masks can delay you reaching the viral load, again, the degree to which depends on the type of mask.

The BEST masks stop down to 3 microns.

Flu virions are .256 microns... Basically a quarter of 1 micron

COVID is half that.

Masks aren't stopping ***** They barely stop bacteria.

I don't care. If people want to wear them ok. I don't. My thing is if you are going to wear one then wear a N95 correctly.
But I will say…… If I have to have surgery I would want all the folks in the OR to have one on. I don't want to end up with a hocker in my body.

True. Which is why it's dumb for a person to wear a mask for fear of catching it airborne.

But when you cough/sneeze, those droplets are close to 100 microns. If someone has been sick, or is sick, it certainly would help prevent them from spreading it to me.

They do serve a purpose. Just not the one 95% of the people are wearing them for.

Many people are incapable of imagining any other scenario besides the one they currently exist in. It's assumptions and hatitudes for everything they see. Wearing a mask? Must be a liberal idiot! There are literally no other realities for these people.

I don't really think twice if I see someone in public wearing a mask. It doesn't affect me at all.

Last week I was in CA with my daughter when she became very sick with the flu. I extended our trip for a couple days until she'd been fever free for 24 hours, but by then I was beginning to feel achy and feverish myself. We absolutely had to get home before I was fully sick, so we traveled wearing masks (first time I've worn a mask outside of a medical setting in years). I chose seats in the first row of the plane, made sure we boarded last so the whole plane didn't have to walk past us, and told the FAs we wouldn't need meal or beverage service. If someone looked at us wearing masks and thought we were crazy liberals, oh well. It was a difficult situation and I was just doing the best that I could to get us home without infecting too many others.
