Senator Klobuchar says that they are trying to work with the GOP on a budget, and they are "unwilling to stand up to Trump" to keep the government moving.

The GOP can pass a budget through reconciliation that guts a lot of the stupid spending. But, I don't think that they will.

I think it will be very important to pass tax cuts that are as targeted as Klobuchar wants. Focus tax cuts on people "making less than $400k a year".

I know Trump wants to lower the capital gains tax rate, but maybe that needs to wait until after mid-terms. Maybe put in a significant deduction for capital gains tax of $250k per year. This would allow early investors of Crypto start to cash out tax free, and help people that have a home they want to sell to move.

If Trump can get the economy back on track and shrink the budget deficit by A LOT, then MAGA will kill it in the mid terms, and he can use the latter part of his presidency to pass the larger tax cuts. I would rather Trump use the political capital right now to gut spending, not on tax cuts. If he guts spending, and we have a plan to get to a balanced budget by 2032, and we stick to that plan, MAGA will continue to have lots of power.

Trump and the GOP are in a tough spot with the new budget. A lot of what Trump is doing is all tied together, but we likely won't see the benefits until a few more months.

This may be one of the the times the GOP needs to kick the can down the road and let some of the Trump tariffs and DOGE cuts work through the economy. Though its going to be highly unpopular.

Any tax increase for anybody is a non-starter. Letting current tax rates expire and go back to Obama-level taxes is a tax increase. Trump and R's promised to avoid that, and they need to deliver.

He needs to focus tax cuts on those already paying the lion's share of fed income taxes. Not further reducing those that already paying less and creating even more taxpayers with very little or no skin in the game.

If there's a gov shutdown during the process to force a balanced budget and eliminate excess waste and fraud; then that Dem strategy will work to make Trump the best President of all time.

Then Trump can focus the next couple years to make it as impossible as possible for future President or Congress to re-corrupt the most free and prosperous country on the planet.

You can already exclude $250,000 of any capital gain from being taxed if single, and $500,000 if married filing jointly.

My estimate is that tax cuts will be most effective at increasing GDP at income levels of $100k to $400k per year. Checking with ChatGPT on this tomorrow morning. I'm almost out of Texags time for today.

This is good news to me! I just sold a house last year and had a significant capital gain. I might even do my taxes now instead of April. I was expecting to write a check.

That is not what matters. Those at the top are the ones paying and that will just create more voters with less skin in the game.

The opposite of what we should be doing.

How much should the top few percent pay of fed income taxes before they get relief? 70%? 80%?

The top 1% already pays over 40+% of the net fed income taxes and get only 22% of the AGI. They are already paying double their "fair share." Do you not agree or have you moved more socialist?

The perception of all this DOGE/Less Govt. by the common individual is that they will be better off. I would suggest most of these individuals understand that through paying less taxes and the price of goods coming down.

Exactly, and who cares right now who they blame? Trump just started a month ago and we are only seeing the immediate actions that America voted for.

The left are only highlighting just what lightweights they are. Completely void of ideas, only divisiveness and identify politics. As long as they don't change, their only chance at winning will be in progressive states and cities.

I'm fine with that strategy because I don't think Trump cares this time.

It will be a hard sell because I think Trump will bash both Republicans and Democrats over the head with multiple examples of abuse this time around and I think they will lose the public with that argument.

Good point, Titan.

I was talking more about socio-economically, but I can see where you're coming from. Hopefully, with the death of Woke and DEI, we're a few steps further away from that ledge, because I'll be on the front line, per se, if things ever got close to control and censorship laws. At least more than we've already put on ourselves like The Patriot Act, etc.

I see Trump being more successful this time at doing long-lasting things because he;ll bash the Republicans even more than last time if he needs to. The dems, they're a nuisance, but that's it.

The democrats are in trouble. They are coming across as being against DOGE and eliminating waste fraud and abuse. 90% of Americans are for eliminating waste fraud and abuse..I have no doubt Dems won't cooperate to pass a budget. Republicans have to get it done WITH THE TAX CUTS as they promised.

I think Trump is going to let it shut down and STAY shut down for all non-essential government employees for a long time. He'll hang the 8 month voluntary severance out there, gathering more and more takers.

This is basically what Elon did to Twitter, and it turned out he didn't need any of those employees back to continue operating
