What if we have been truly overpaying for everything the last 20 years by a factor of like 5x for no reason other than to give kickbacks to everyone but the common American?

Healthcare
Education
Food
Gas
Etc

I don't even want to think about the opportunity cost of something like this?

What if we somehow someway were able to drive the USA into reality? Can you imagine the bitterness to know we worked our butts off the last 20 years for a lie instead of actually moving the ball forward with our families and our financial goals?

Of course there's wide interpretation to the definition of "overpaid", but I'd still be flabbergasted if we overpaid by more than .5x (which is still way too much).

it is all a scam and has been for a long time. our money is a scam the way is is used is a scam everything our government does is a scam. we are led by pathological liars. to say what if we overpaid by 5x, how about 50x. i am old enough to remember when a Billion with a B was a lot of money. that was like 12 years ago.

This is a great question. On the surface it looks like politicians and bureaucrats have insulated the system. Roughly speaking, through the agencies with policy, court system, and congress as a final stop gap. We are already seeing the enormous blowback on questioning the agencies spending. Can you imagine if a judge is impeached what the fallout would be?

We will never know the truth, but gutting that machine will get us as close as possible.

To the guy that said 5X is out of the question. You have no idea (nor do I for that matter) what the multiple is, but looking at tsome of the data trickling out so far indicates an enormous amount of waste and blout. From another angle, look at the taxes your grandparents paid, in terms of percentages and volume, compared to you. That alone should cause you to question everything regarding spending.

When I go to the Dr. I see a DR it an NP. Them maybe there's aRN or a CNA. But up front there's as many or even more working with billing, records, insurance, compliance, etc.

Any other retail or business establishment didn't have near the back office folks.

Yall are all missing the point. Doesn't matter if it's .5x or 5x. We should NEVER be over paying for bureaucrats to line their pockets or for other countries to line their pockets.

For most families an extra 5-10K a year goes a long way. We could invest it, take extra vacation, car down payments, sign a kid up for select sports, replace the A/C.

I mean it's wrong on so many levels, I hope half of the Democratic Party has their come to Jesus moment and realizes DC is a complete scam finally.

Talk to any insurance companies, doctors or pharmacists who are willing to have honest conversations and they will say healthcare is well north of 5x for the services rendered.

When I consider how salaries have escalated, in the 50+ years I've been working, it's easy to believe that we're over paying by much more than 5x. The escalation of salaries and cost of living are mostly driven by cumulative inflation effect and that is a result of a multitude of government decisions. Healthcare cost increases are likewise driven by inflation as well as government mandates. Cost of government (taxes) soared far more than 5x in my working life. So yes, I can easily believe that corruption and malfeasance has cost us 5x just in my life. So now consider the effect since 1900………

It's called equity. There is no reason that you should become wealthy in this country just because you were born here while men in Mozambique cannot get circumcisions. Oh, and of course our politicians will take their fee for facilitating this transfer.
