I will continue to laugh at any of us who thinks spending will get cut.

Newsflash: It will not. We will ride this to train to oblivion.
I will continue to laugh at people like you, who continue to doubt Trump and the new GOP regime

Everyone of yall that doubted Trump look clueless, and it still looks like some have not awoken

Trump owns the GOP now, he will have a couple asses in the way, leaks, and law-fare. But it will not slow him down near as much, and he will make a huge dent on cleaning Washington out.

JD and the new GOP will finish it. Sometimes I think God blessed Trump with that 2020 steal

You still have no evidence that less money will ever be spent by the federal government. Sure, they may even identify and stop major areas of wasteful and fraudulent spending, but while you're celebrating that, they will come up with "productive" ways to spend the savings. The problem is Trump and half the people he took with him were Democrats 15 minutes ago and still believe in Keynesian economics. He's still going to be part of the problem.

Bull *****

They might not be successful because the bureaucracy is heavily entrenched, but everyone from Steven Miller to Elon to Trump truly understand what a colossal **** storm we are headed for if we don't get our debt under control.

We are about to have refinance 10 trillion in debt that the Biden Administration completely ****ed up on short term deals thinking inflation would magically disappear.

Anyone who doesn't think the Trump administration is taking this problem seriously is completely full of ***** Again, it's a massive problem and the dirty corrupt deep state is going to fight reform with every ounce of there energy.

If you aren't touching SS, Medicare, and Medicaid which make up 50% of annual spend amongst the three of them, then wherever we end up likely doesn't matter. Other Mandatory spend takes this to 2/3 of total annual spend that won't be touched.

Quote:

Trump also complicated life for House Republicans by saying he wanted no cuts to Medicaid, one of the GOP's major plans for paying for an extension of Trump's 2017 tax cuts. Trump had previously taken any changes to Social Security and Medicare off the table, but in an interview that aired Tuesday night he lumped in Medicaid as well.

"Medicare, Medicaidnone of that stuff is going to be touched," Trump said in an interview late Tuesday on Fox News's "Hannity."

Hegseth is at least going to try and cut Defense spending it sounds like, but with above untouchables that means Trump has to find ~$2T in annual cuts from Discretionary + waste just to break even for one year. Discretionary spend by itself pushes $2T per year now.

Do you really think that is feasible and will be tolerated by everyone? And then do you think that can be sustained in perpetuity going forward even when Dems get back in control?

At the very least, they are working to get a handle on what the entitlement expenditures SHOULD be, without fraud. That has to be a starting point. We don't even know who has a legitimate claim to the benefits at this point. By design.

Trump's folks are much more prepared this time around and are doing yeoman's work. Give them a little time.

(And I don't believe there are many people in DC serious about cutting spending)

Agreed and I'm not knocking what they are trying to do. Will celebrate that all day long.

You just can't get where we need to get with the math by protecting 2/3 of annual spend when you already run a $1.5-2.0T annual deficit. We will have to find a **** load of waste across both Mandatory and Discretionary to get there. Maybe we can. We shall see.

That's nice that you think that, but we have yet to see any evidence that it will ever happen, and there has never been a claim that it will, only that they will identify and eliminate the spending they don't like. Spending less has never been something that has been on the table or pushed for from Trump. You may have assumed that, but you know what assuming does,

Ukraine funding until 2030?

What in the actual **** are we doing???

The swamp has already moved on to Ukraine Grift 3.0, The Rebuild. Anyone who thinks ending the war ends the torrent of money flowing into Ukraine is going to be very disappointed.

My initial read into this is that this additional funding is strictly for border control and defense(?) to plug a hole right now and then they will go after cuts in the next one.

Unfortunately, that sounds like typical Washington deal making. Spend more now with promise of cuts later that never happen.
