Other cuts on the table include a proposal to change the federal government's reimbursement to a per-person limit. That would shift the costs to states, which might be forced to make tough choices about who or what they cover.

Medicaid not to be confused with Medicare should be cut deeply. It has grown outrageously over the years. It's basically the government paying for poor people's healthcare, removing their incentive to work and provide their own.

In my extended (wife's side of the tree) I have two neices who have had five kids from four different guys (that's another but different issue). Never married. And everyone one of them was paid for by Medicaid.

30 years earlier when I was young and poor, I was still required and I expected to pay for my family's health care. Debt and many years of payments, but I did it.

Obama and the Dems socialized a lot of this, and we can not afford it. Pay for your own health care.

People will still go to the hospitals and receive emergency care and the hospital may not receive any funds if the patient doesn't qualify. The hospitals have no choice then but to pass on that cost to paying patients.

I have a trash cousin who met some unemployed girl with a kid, and they specifically held off from getting married because she and the kid would no longer qualify for medicaid. The incentive to not work and stay on the govt tit is insanely pervasive. We have to end it

Many states have no net asset limits for Medicaid. One could be worth $1 billion, but so long as their taxable income was below the threshold, they'd qualify for Medicaid.

It also covers people with "schizophrenia" supposedly.

Medicaid fraud is rampant. Mental illness is the number 1 vehicle.

Yes, but didn't doctors used to be far more affordable and wasn't the high prices a product of government starting to meddle with it, and to provide cheap versions overseas at American expense? Would Medicaid bee needed if not for that inflation.

As for Medicare its understanding you pay half and govt (? ) pays half --something akin to old 401K approach (this may be mistaken and outdated. Really do not know anymore)

Trump supports the House plan.

The House and Senate are doing a SPECTACULAR job of working together as one unified, and unbeatable, TEAM, however, unlike the Lindsey Graham version of the very important Legislation currently being discussed, the House Resolution implements my FULL America First Agenda, EVERYTHING, not just parts of it! We need both Chambers to pass the House Budget to "kickstart" the Reconciliation process, and move all of our priorities to the concept of, "ONE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL." It will, without question, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Make health insurance real insurance and not the stupid health maintenance plans we have now and costs will come down.

There are so many responsible ways to deal with this. One option is you pay back the government for your Medicaid bills over time. So they essentially "loan" it to you up front so you can get medical care and then you pay it off over time.

Or maybe you pay back 75%.

Or 50%.

Some approach that retains individual responsibility and accountability.

But no, it's a total giveaway. And the ones I see aren't even grateful for it. They're so accustomed to sucking off the government teat that they expect it.

Worked as a consultant for hospital in Houston. They primarily served Medicare patients with mental health issues.

2-years after our contract ended, the FBI raided their offices, arrested the CEO/CFO and a few others for $158,000,000 in Medicare fraud.

Now HTF does the number get that big before someone notices?

The genius of this is that there's no way these people can afford to put their 6 kids in daycare to work whatever minimum wage job they're qualified for. So they're largely going to be forced to be disqualified from government paying for their kids one way or the other. It's brilliant. Do the same thing for SNAP and suddenly we're off the hook for covering all these kids and pregos. Hundreds of billions of dollars back in the budget almost overnight.

No, but they still qualified.

Even if they made less than 15k, we still don't need to give away stuff that other people have to work for. Some exceptions of course for the truly disabled who can't work, but that also has to be policed like hell because so many people would abuse that.

One of the major Medicaid abuses, aside from giving minimum wage workers comprehensive benefits at the expense of taxpayers, is ER abuse. Because the patient pays nothing they go to the ER for anything and everything. Then they are overtested with imaging and viral testing so you can spend $5k for a kid with a cold and call it rhinovirus which changes nothing but the bill.

Everyone has cousins like this. It's ubiquitous and there isn't even any shame associated with it anymore. One of my husband's cousins knew the Medicaid rules inside and out. What's ironic is that she knew the rules so well, she would have probably been eligible to work there! Instead, she had three kids ("somewhat" respectably with one guy) and never married specifically because of Medicaid bennies.

It's good that you can financially afford to get the services your child needs without needing Medicaid. As I'm sure you know, there's many children who need Medicaid to get those necessary services.
