Noem also needs to go after the bad apples in her Dept. As an example:

Quote:

he U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer allegedly involved in migrant smuggling on the El Paso border was allegedly a member of a Mexican drug cartel, a federal agent testified.

A federal magistrate judge ordered CBP Officer Manuel Perez Jr., 32, of El Paso, to remain jailed without bond at a detention hearing Thursday, Feb. 13, in federal court in Downtown El Paso. Perez is allegedly a member of the La Linea drug cartel.

Perez was fired from CBP after his arrest on federal human and drug smuggling charges on Feb. 8 by the FBI El Paso West Texas Border Corruption Task Force following a multi-agency investigation, court officials said. If convicted, he could face 10 years up to life in prison.

FYI obscure Borderland Beat is a reasonable source for Cartel news...

Not a surprise. Part of operating a criminal network involves buying off insiders. Pretty much standard practice.

Unfortunately huge amounts of people on this side will be implicated. This is a network and they have had 12 of the last 16 years to build it with zero consequences, with 4 years of more or less status quo while Trump fought his own government to make progress.

If they want to use this guy to get to others, they better protect him. My guess is that if he knows much he's no long for this world.

I'm sure that was all that was there.

These cartels are everywhere. They are in all sorts of American law enforcement and government covering local, state and federal levels. A lot of CIA money comes from the cartel and a lot of political money comes from the cartel.

Strip him of his citizenship & deport? He's not an immigrant with a green card. He was born in the US. There's nowhere to deport him to.

Criminal lack of imagination on your part, here. There's 6 feet under, there's gitmo, there's the gulf of America, there's the 51st state: tons of options!

So this guy had a home in JUAREZ, MX and he was a US CBP agent? That's not a giant red flag or anything..

Since the cartels have been designated a terrorist organization then charge them with whatever runs up the line leading all the way to treason. If this person was being paid off by the cartel, seize his assets.

Mom and little Timmy can go live in the projects while Daddy rots at Gitmo. No more nice home in the foothills of the Davis Mountains (or whatever the swanky part of El Paso is).

Ever think that maybe the poster you're replying to is thinking out loud what they would like to see happen fully knowing it won't for the reason you give? Nuance.

It appears that they do a pretty good job of that for us.

Have you ever heard of the Las Cruces bowling alley massacre in the 1990s?

About five years ago, I asked a retired New Mexico state trooper if they would ever catch the perps? The response was that cartel members didn't tend to live very long and those involved in it were probably killed years ago.

Not nearly good enough because they are still doing what they do. If they are linked to a cartel, execute them and hang them from a tree or fence and let them rot down. Perhaps that will help dissuade others from becoming a cartel member. If not, well at least you got rid of those you executed.

He'll be in protective custody. It's his family that is in danger.
