I have always completely laughed off this conspiracy…and I still do…at least the part about chemicals being released to slowly pacify or subdue large populations.

But seriously wth is up with the sky? Not only do I not remember the sky almost constantly being covered with countless contrails, I am seeing some weird sheen through the thin clouds (which often don't look like normal clouds) and it will often times produce/reflect rainbow-esque colors…only different...like a rainbow from Temu.

To me, the sky of my childhood and teenage/early adult years definitely seems different than this one. Is it pollution? Weather patterns or changes? Pretty sure the air was far dirtier in the 80's and 90's. Are my eyes and mind playing tricks on me and the sky is EXACTLY the same as it always was? Has anyone else noticed a different "hue" or appearance of the sky over the decades?

I probably shouldn't even have posted that IG image...it's pretty ****oo. My post is sincere and stands without it. Maybe I just see more of the sky out here in Cypress than I did in Houston and never noticed, kind of hoping for a weather guy or two to chime in and just tell me I am bonkers and the sky has never changed in appearance in our lifetimes.

I just remember the aky appearing a lot clearer and less hazy in general...and definitely with less colors and warped off-color looking rainbow prisms etc. Is there just more moisture in the stratosphere now or something? El Niño related? Or no change at all and I am just imagining things completely?

I honestly felt like I was the only one. Not claiming it is anything coordinated, diabolical, or sinister...but it very rarely resembles the sky of my youth. The color, the way the sun shines..even on most clear days. I am 43, my vision is perfect...so I know it's not my eyes...but maybe my brain is defective?

if you looked in the sky as a kid planes would fly over and their contrails would follow the plane and dissipate pretty quickly after the plane had moved on. many planes in the sky today still have contrails that still dissipate as they did when i was a kid but there are now other planes that fly highe that their trails do not dissipate in the same manner and actually spread out and form a thin layer like cloud.

i cannot tell you what the difference is but you have to be blind, to young, or a terrible memory not to recall that their is a difference.

Like you'd be driving at 4pm when the sky was hazy and see weird discolored rainbow prisms in the stratosphere mist? I guess I just wasn't very observant back in my youth. I do not remember ever seeing that...now it's pretty regular.

BTW - "chemtrails" is a misnomer. These are called "contrails", which is short for condensation trails.

The condensation can be from engine exhaust or from higher pressure under the wing wrapping around the wing tip to get to the lower pressure above the wing. (spoiler alert - it's the difference in pressure above and below the wing that creates lift and makes the airplane fly).

i am going to give you a little nugget of info. the us military was cloud seeding and messing with the weather during the vietnam war. specifically over cambodia to make it difficult for the vietcong to move equipment through cambodia to attack. that was in the 60's and 70's. what they sprayed to make this happen is not a contrail. mow in the 60's and 70's did they spray this in the US? i don't believe so.

I am over 50, and I don't really see a difference. Looking out my window right now, I see a beautiful blue sky. Not one single cloud or "chemtrail" in sight.

That said, I don't remember smoke from South America blowing up here to Texas when I was a kid. Maybe it did and I just wasn't aware of it. That's always possible because I was pretty much oblivious when I was outside playing or riding my bike.

I'm 46 years old and can't remember the names of 98% of my teachers but you remember what planes in the sky looked like?

No joke….I flew a ton of kites as a kid back in early 70's and spent a ton of time laying on my back looking up at the sky. I now live on a farm in a rural area and spend a great deal of time looking up at the sky. I don't see a difference during the day.

However, the suburban night sky as a kid had far less light pollution than the rural night sky does now. I miss the night sky of my youth.

Yes, there are more contrails than there were in the 70s...the amount of commercial air traffic has gone up exponentially.

I am the opposite, I would have to think for a minute or two to recall what i did two days ago, but can remember insane amounts of detail, names etc. from my youth...it's almost photographic for me. Great long term memory, declining short term memory.

I really effed this thread up, like little loudbarking knip-at-your-heel dogs, I should have known some here would get tripped up by the tongue-in-cheek title and the Instagram post image. I even said I don't believe it in the OP.

But either my eyes are really deceiving me in recent years, or the sky appears different than it used to. It very well could be the former...but there are TONS of posters who do not buy into chemtrails who have seemed to niotice this. Go check out reddit...a lot of discussion on this...without even bringing up chemtrails.

Possible explanations vary, but numerous seem logical to me.
