Is Trump intimidating judges and lawyers and, if so, is that OK?

IMHO, judges continue to face intense pressure from Trump for opinions he considers unfavorable to him. This is not the first time, but it does appear that it has scaled up and has brushed against the USSC with the chief justice issuing a repudiation of the President's calls to impeach a federal judge. Here are the most recent applicable posts from the President's social media account regarding his disagreement with Judge Boasberg. I find it interesting that his arguments tend to focus on a logical fallacy often used here, the Ad hominem, rather that the legal arguments being discussed in court.
…,,,…,,,
It's not intimidation if the statements are true.
Among the latter, under pretence of governing they have divided their nations into two classes, wolves and sheep.”

So there should be no consequences for the law firm who paid for and pushed the fake dossier? Guess sleazy attorneys shouldn't have to face consequences for lying.

What he did to the law firms is disgusting and dangerous. So obviously intended to silence any opposition. It's extremely concerning. The top firms will be hesitant to challenge this administration. I dont know how anyone can support that. If a democrat was doing this we would all justifiably be up in arms. Its insane.
Now do the attacks at all the legal firms that might represent Trump...The top "white shoe" firms essentially bowed out of the game due to the leftist attacks...
Not because Biden was threatening them. They didnt want to out of market pressure.
Because the left was threatening them.

Right - the left being market forces. No one wanted to be seen siding with Trump because clients didn't like it. It wasn't pressure from the government

That's not "market forces" any more than Trump's remarks are market forces.

This appears to be one of those "internet lawyers" saying one thing, and Trump's lawyers doing something completely different! We saw that ALOT in the lawfare criminal/civil actions brought by Biden's DOJ and his cohorts in GA and NY.
if Trump had the lawyers on X running these cases, he'd never lose.

No. It was fear and intimidation and was quite intentional. From THE LEFT.

Sounds like you arent up to date on what Trump did. It wasnt his words. It was an executive order targeting multiple law firms. His rationale for punishing Paul Weiss was partly because they did pro bono that he didnt approve of. These firms do all sorts of regulatory work connected to transactions. Who would want to hire Paul Weiss (or any firm) for regulatory work related to an M&A deal if they think the FTC or FCC is going to scrutinize their client harder since Trump doesnt like a firm. What firm is going to risk losing clients over it? Firms are going to be very very careful to publicly oppose or criticize the Trump administration.

Even if you think the left was out of line over the last four years (which I do), how do you defend the President using his power like that? It's just very disturbing overall and even more that conservatives are not even able to acknowledge it is happening.

have to agree with Gipper on this one. If Trump's lawyer thought there was grounds to get Boasberg recused, they would file a motion. sorry, but "it will be hard to get reversed if we lose" is not really an excuse for not doing something as a lawyer.

I think people here are thinking of the motion that was indeed filed to recuse Howell. It was a doozy.

Perkins was involved in the Steele Dossier and Russiagate, all of which they knew was false, and which obstructed the legitimate functions of the Executive Branch. They also provided counsel to Jack Smith, who trampled all over the Constitution in raiding Trump's home and denied Trump his civil rights 8 ways to Sunday.

They should be destroyed.

I need to learn more about how PC was actually involved but I didnt raise a big stink over them bc i recalled there was some stuff there but as a general rule, attorneys just do what their clients ask them to. Its why V&E didnt go out of business but Enron and Author Anderson did. I do need to get educated on what PC actually did that would warrant the action taken.

My concern went up when PW was targeted along with the stuff that has continued to come out.

However, defending Jack Smith is not something to get punished over. One of the basic principles of this country is that everyone should have a defense.

Translation- all that sweet sweet NGO USAID money the Dems were slinging was gonna go somewhere else if the firm did not appear to be firmly antitrump.

So..... exactly how is that less sleazey than what is currently going on?

At least what Trump is doing he is doing in broad daylight instead of in backrooms with sleazey money so yall can fool yourselves into thinking its more moral and keep it put of the public's line of sight.

What needs to happen? I really dont think most of you, especially folks that are law and order / constitutional loving people get what he is doing and what this does to our system. It is very damaging.

My prior comment could be taken condescendingly, so apologies. However, I really do not think you guys understand the magnitude of this and what is actually happening. The stuff with Signal was a screw up but dont think there was anything nefarious going on, just perhaps some inexperience. This is a much bigger deal to me.

This is the attitude that is most disturbing. This is unprecedented. This isnt about elections having consequences.

Its also not about democrats crying. I've spoken to 3 people today that all historical republicans, one that was even very pro trump and voted for him again in 2024. Everyone agrees this is terrible. The pro trump guy was dumbfounded why he is even doing it.

And yet, not a peep from you about the effort to disbar Republican lawyers. All we are talking about here is denying firms with lawyers who have tried to subvert the constitution with security clearances. That's nothing compared to trying to disbar lawyers.

Ellis, why are you absolutely salivating over the prospect of a MAGA autocracy? You seem to sincerely believe that a complete MAGA takeover of all three branches plus the military is the best thing you could ever hope for? Do you really believe it? That's the archetypal example of a dictatorship. Why do you support it? What dictatorship in history delivered the results you're looking for?

You're back? I'm sorry.

Who said they want any autocracy? I want accountability. I want a government that puts America first. I want the fat stripped from the hugely bloated leviathan that is DC.

People in these firms belong in prison. I'm not a liberal, so I consider corruption to be a bad thing. We need to purge our government of the refuse that infested it during the Biden regime. No telling how many Chinese and Iranian spies are there. That regime served those countries since Biden took so many millions from foreign interests.

lol you really have no clue how these firms work or who works in them - these are just lawyers that represent clients, mostly helping businesses do deals and put money to work.

He went after WilmerHale because Mueller worked there in like 2014. Does that make sense to you?
