Quick GIS on topic "wind damage windmills" strongly suggests that some will not...

We just had a storm pass through Lubbock with some fairly strong winds, lightning, and thunder booming but, no tornadoes...thank goodness. We definitely needed the rain.

Aren't 100 mph winds the norm out there?

Sure, during March. But it's mid-April now so you probably need a tornado to hit 100

They know oil represents freedom and individual choice on how to live. That's why the left hates "big oil" so bad. They want us miserable with our failed grids so we can look to daddy government to protect us and give us some hand outs.

So did we lose all the windmills? At this very moment, wind is producing 30% of the electricity needed in Texas. Wind + solar 50%

The government doesn't own oil & gas. They don't profit from it so they don't want it. Simple as that.

Doubt all of them, but maybe all you can see from the highways?

30% is about 29.9% more than I thought it would be based on what the folks on F16 say about it.

I have no problem with wind power if we quit subsidizing it and it provides competitive power on its own or in conjunction with other sources. If we have the resource and it is useful and economical then we should try to use it.

No doubt they work, if they survived.

Agreed.

I would add that we stop subsidizing all private companies, including farmers, or anyone who is getting subsidized that makes a profit or breaks even.

Let me click that link for you to check. As of this post wind is providing 32% of the electricity needed in Texas. Wind plus solar, 62%. Looks like some survived the scary wind.

From an engineering perspective, the turbines are pretty impressive. They are of course getting better and better as well, with longer lifespan, better efficiency, and designs to mitigate severe weather.

Energy diversification is good. Subsidies get sticky, but there are far more wasteful uses of tax dollars than developing new technologies.

Big Green talks **** about Big Oil and Big Oil says nothing against the Greenies because green energy is not a true threat to Big Oil. Now, nuclear is a real threat to both of them so they like to team up behind the scenes to keep nuclear at bay.

You haven't seen the property tax I pay on minor royalty holdings.

Of course these numbers are when the wind is blowing and the sun is shining.
Which don't happen on a reliable basis.

We had one for my late in-laws. Less than $20 a year. So some are truly minor.

And yes, I am grateful that I won a small prize in the ancestor lottery.

My point was just that the government makes a crap ton off the oil industries. And I pay on a small share of the landowner's 25%. Imagine how much the oil companies pay on their 75%.

You would think that at 100 mph would not be a threat to those windmills. Designs are required to have such safety factors to handle some really obscene cases.

My point is …..if a number of windmills do get smoked, I would bet those windmills are not subjected to the same design regulations as other similar structures.

Could be a design trade-off between structural and propeller efficiency. Kind of a propeller for 125 mph wind design vs a lighter weight design that captures more wind energy by turning more freely. I'm sure the tower itself is a robust design, but maybe not the propellers themselves.

Unless the above is sarcasm, you need to review BLM mineral holdings in the Permian Basin and elsewhere.
