Bad trump.

What I hate more than this little shenanigan (yes, it's a shenanigan by DC standards)…I hate that he's giving cred to ****coin and cryptocurrency in general by doing it.

Dgaf about the f16 bitcoin boyz…and I don't intend to make this a bitcoin debate…but it's rat poison tinged ****ing tulip bulbs and we shouldn't be putting a cent of national wealth into it. Have fun and make money on it guys, just don't get left holding the bag when it crashes. And it will crash (albeit not for "a while").

He's just doing for the Bitcoin business what he and Elon did for the rush to EV everything in the economy. Liberals will Avoid it like the plague. Coal mining is back and the miners in WV & PA have their jobs back and don't have to learn to code. Some of you should be happy.

The problem is these aren't donations for a campaign. This dinner and the White House reception/tour for the top buyers are for the personal benefit of the Trump family and their net worth.

Judging by our seatmates in 1st on way back from DCA Monday evening, I would say wealthy friends of Trump and any other POTUS are included in special WH events as a matter of course.

I was not in DC for such and certainly not a wealthy donor, but being adjacent to it at flights / hotels would be highly indicative there is simply nothing unusual about such occurrences.

These sorts of dinners and events are a sort of donor's plaque for people that need to show their friends they stood in the same room as POTUS. They are not getting tariff waivers, pardons, Russian diamonds and board seats for $TRUMP coin.

There are other things to be concerned about IMO.

Imagine if Biden did the same thing for those that bought Hunter's painting.
or played golf with Hunter's business partners from Kahzakstan
or had dinner with Hunter's business partner from Russia
or dialed into Hunter's board meetings in Ukraine
or wrote letters of recommendation for the son or daughter of Hunter's business partner in China

(Biden did all of those things)

..and what makes you think Hunter's finger painting buyers got nothing from daddy?

And any peddling of influence via Hunter was wrong.

Just like launching a meme coin that makes tracking of payments difficult is a horrible look. Then using access to a special dinner to those who buy the most is also shady.

What is your take on Trump not taking a salary?

The estimate on this coin is that around 100 million as beeb generated in fees, so it's easy to make the symbolic choice of foregoing a salary that is miniscule when you are bringing in that kind of money.

Plus the lockout period for many of the coins for insiders just ended. So the timing of this looks like he is trying to raise the price quickly so they could sell off at a higher price.

Oh yes, using public office to sell favors and influence to foreigners and trying to hide it with zero interest undocumented loans, a network of dozens of LLCs through family members, off shore bank accounts, pseudonyms, etc. was wrong- just didn't care that much to say anything back then because those conflicts of interest between the corrupt politician and America are probably benign... maybe.. plus, he was just using his government position to get wealthy, so not a big deal..

However, we must be really super outraged right now about a transparent dinner the whole world knows about. Trump should probably just tell whoever the top investors in his crypto coins were that the dinner is cancelled until January or February 2033 when his third term over. Scrupulous honest caring people who are now all of a sudden concerned about public corruption will probably blow something up and burn things down if this dinner party takes place.

If you thought the Joe and Hunter bribery schemes were a big deal, which I think most of this board agreed that it was, then this isn't non-important either. Corruption shouldn't be tolerated from the left or the right.

Especially when this administration did this immediately when taking office:

Quote:

(i) cease initiation of any new FCPA investigations or enforcement actions, unless the Attorney General determines that an individual exception should be made;

...Why?

Give him a buzz! You're always mocking others for not taking dramatic political action above and beyond voting, staying involved in the issues, and contacting congressmen...what are you doing here other than complaining online as an anon?

Or, maybe...just maybe...this isn't a big deal at all. How many congress critters are worth tens of millions on a $174k/yr salary? How many $15+MM coastal mansions do the Obamas own now? Whatever happened to their servant who was found dead after drowning in 4 ft of water? Trump is selling a coin and people are freaking out lol.

Hunter taking bribes for "art" in order to peddle influence is corruption.

Trump hosting a PRE-ANNOUINCED meal for some folks that HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED his coin is stupid, non-important BS.

Don't expect some to understand this pretty basic concept, though.

And, he stopped the political investigations to stop the lawfare that was launched on the US by the previous dictator that was running things.

It inhibited US based companies from competing in places where things prohibited by the onerous and somewhat outdated FCPA are common business practice. I mean, they put out a statement when they did it.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/02/pausing-foreign-corrupt-practices-act-enforcement-to-further-american-economic-and-national-security/

Quote:

Section 1. Purpose and Policy. Since its enactment in 1977, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (15 U.S.C. 78dd-1 et seq.) (FCPA) has been systematically, and to a steadily increasing degree, stretched beyond proper bounds and abused in a manner that harms the interests of the United States. Current FCPA enforcement impedes the United States' foreign policy objectives and therefore implicates the President's Article II authority over foreign affairs.

The President's foreign policy authority is inextricably linked with the global economic competitiveness of American companies. American national security depends in substantial part on the United States and its companies gaining strategic business advantages whether in critical minerals, deep-water ports, or other key infrastructure or assets.

But overexpansive and unpredictable FCPA enforcement against American citizens and businesses by our own Government for routine business practices in other nations not only wastes limited prosecutorial resources that could be dedicated to preserving American freedoms, but actively harms American economic competitiveness and, therefore, national security.

It's not related to pre purchased coins. It's about holdings starting now through May 12th. Will a leader board so you can track where you stand.

Quote:

The Wednesday announcement of a May 22 dinner for the largest holders of Trump's meme coin included some requirements for coin holders.

They must register with the meme coin's website and "hold as much $Trump as you can" between now and May 12, according to the website.

The gala "may be rescheduled to a different date or location," and "President Trump may not be able to attend," the website's terms and conditions page stated.

If he can't attend, it may be rescheduled or invitees will receive a "limited edition Trump NFT in lieu thereof."

Quote:

"Have Dinner with President Trump and the $TRUMP Community!" the invitation said. "Let the President know how many $TRUMP coins YOU own!"

Quote:

Invitations to the dinner event with Mr. Trump will only be offered to those who own the most $TRUMP meme coins, according to the website. The top 25 holders will get a bonus of "an Exclusive Reception before Dinner with YOUR FAVORITE PRESIDENT!" the website marketing the dinner said.

"Our leaderboard updates hourly in real time. Your $TRUMP coin count puts you in the running. The competition is fierce. Own $TRUMP or watch from the sidelines," according to the website marketing the coin.

The leaderboard will be determined by the average holdings of $TRUMP owners from April 23 to May 12, according to the website. "The more $TRUMP you hold and the longer you hold it the higher Your Ranking will be," it said.

So completely open and transparent? And this is now a problem?

To ensure we cover whataboutisms, we have not been told on who purchased Hunter paintings though I think a couple names slipped out.

I think for giggles we will see some of the top holders with usernames such as @vladputin#trumpbuddy2024 and @rocketmansbigmissile.

Its not unethical, its not corrupt. Its just good ol fashion pay to have dinner with Orange Man. Hate the game not the player.

No, taking bribes from foreign governments is bad.

Recognizing folks who make money by buying your swag at a WH tour and dinner with all names known seems nothing more than political showmanship.

I don't see the logic in how this benefits US companies or citizens. To me it benefits foreign companies and governments more by essentially signaling that our government officials are for sale now. And especially if the next admin begins to enforce the FCPA again...why would any US based business take that risk?

To date, more foreign companies have had to pay penalties due to FCPA violations anyway

This board used to ***** about Obama on the golf course and then became much more nuanced when Trump played more golf and spent more time away from the WH. The things that one side loses their **** on when it's not their guy doing it and then excusing it when it is their guy is damn near universal. I say we treat them all the same.

There is no point in anyone replying to you. That statement shows that you have no interest in having a discussion.

Happy to have a discussion but usually anything that calls out Trump starts with those statements to try to dismiss the issue.
Literally doesn't. That's why this is a forum for discussions.

When people disagree with you or other making this statement, this is what you resort to.

What is your take on Trump not taking a salary?

The Trump not taking a salary talking point is just that. A talking point. Well worth foregoing $400k. Especially when his net worth is bouncing around by billions of $ based on these meme coins and DJT. A $400k salary is a rounding error to the amounts in play with this stuff.
well since as the Kraken pointed out Trump wealth is down I would say $400,000/yr would come in handy and seems to dispute President Trump is selling political favors. Quite the opposite.
We really need to rewrite our laws concerning libel and slander.

In his 1st term, he actually donated the salary not simply refused it, though I am unsure how it is working these days.

Also, he made the point that his two neg flag poles at the White House will be paid for exclusively by him.

I also recall Trump is one of the most prolific convicted felons of all time by recording just $130k in legal settlement costs as legal expense. So $400k, nearly 3 times that amount, has to be an astronomical sum in Trump world.

Could you explain how President Trump is using his office as President to enrich himself and his family?

(note: your link seems to require I give them my personal information so I did not accept their terms)

Concerning Hunter Biden it is known he gave access the his father for favorable treatment by our government. Hunter's business partners has exposed this corruption.

Thanks in advance for explaining.
Still waiting. Where is the evidence President Trump abused his authority enacting regulations/EOs/getting favorable treatment ?

If Obama slept 3 hours a night and grinded his ass off like Trump, I don't think anyone would have an issue with him golfing.

We have never seen a president put in even close to this much work...especially in the first 100 or so days of his term.

It's especially crazy to see coming off the heels of Biden, who rarely showed his face. Trump's work ethic, especially at his age, is extraordinary.
