Seems like jury is trying to find a way out of convicting her.

Q: "May we recall the exhibits that include the ICE internal policies regarding" the agency's notification requirements before and after warrants are issued.

Judge Adelman says the parties agreed on the exhibits, and the court provided them to the jury.

Um…. It shouldn't matter what the subjects name is…. If you are knowingly concealing someone/something to obstruct a Federal search warrant, you are obstructing justice. The dudes name doesn't matter at all…. This judge is dead to rights guilty.

Leftists continually getting away with their lawlessness while conservatives get the entire library of books thrown at them for made up charges is making an absolute mockery of our justice system. This won't end well for anyone if this trend continues.

If judge instructions were improper for first count evidence, can DA appeal and get that count retried?

Felony obstruction carries a max of five years.

No. Double jeopardy.

(Interestingly, in Canada the prosecutors can appeal after an acquittal if they think the judge erred in an instruction. It is a controversial common law precedent set by a Supreme Court ruling. Reason #3,476 I am happy not to live there.)

Until this happens on a regular basis and ideology is removed from what judges do, it will continue to happen. The left was way ahead of us on this again. They set up ideological left wingers in judge positions so when they lost elections they could still govern.

The good news is she will never officiate as a judge again, and likely never get her law license back.

Five year max statute. The base offense level is 14.

She'll pick up an enhancement for abuse of a position of authority -- +2.

Level 16 with no reduction for acceptance puts her in a GL range 21-27 months.

Now, republicans in Congress won't even help get conservatives through the confirmation process. That and the fact that democrats are completely unethical is why we're in this terrible position.

Well in this case, she was voted in by the people of Wisconsin as she is a state circuit judge.

Also, she will lose her judgeship and probably her law license all over an illegal.

Wisconsin's constitution bars convicted felons from holding public office.

State court judge so no impeachment.

She's unlikely to qualify for bail pending appeal -- very limited in the federal system.

She'll probably get 60 days after the date of her sentencing to surrender.

No biggie really as they need to file that motion for appellate purposes.

However, needing extra time to file it? It was a four day trial. They should have had much of that draft already done before the jury started deliberating.
