I too hate these new gas cans.

Here's the solution:

VP racing cans still acknowledge gravity. I use them.

This is my standard response when someone tells me government can fix a problem; i tell them to go buy a gas can & report back. Government f$&@@d up gravity, they damn sure cant fix anything in your daily life.

Even with these kits, the new cans' handles have moved so the air port can't be located where you'd like it.

The solution isn't to overspend on a can and then spend EVEN MORE to modify it back to what works. Thats just a crappy work around. The solution is to kill the dumb regulations and Make Cans Great Again!

I came across this Jerry can on Amazon, although it's pricey.

Question:

Is the horrible design government mandated, or lawyer mandated?

I always assumed it was CYA by the gas can manufacturers, thanks to stupid lawsuits.

.gov gas can reminds me of Homer's BBQ pit.

Idiots somehow designed a gas can that spills even more gas than a regular can.

Sending this to all my friends who need to steal gas from parking lots...

I mean, no more getting a sip of gas when you start to siphon. This is genius!

To add: I never can figure out the new cans and went all electric. Maybe that was their strategy.

This, I have 2 of these as my primary cans for filling up the zero turn and SxS. I transfer from these into 1.5 gallon cans (with thumb button spouts) for the small stuff like Honda generators, 2-stroke equipment, etc...

I like the thumb button spouts for the smaller tanks because it's easy to cut the flow without overflowing all over the chainsaw/trimmer/generator...

This won't fit in the gas input of a vehicle. The pump head is at the end. Sorry to bust your thieving plans.

I keep about 40 gallons on hand during hurricane season, right now I need to run it all through my vehicles and freshen up the reserves. It works very well for this.

I find they just work better than one might expect for lots of reasons. For example, they are tall and easy to pack against each other in the back of a truck and don't eat up floor space the way other cans do with wider bottoms.

Easiest to actually fill without spilling. Way better than anything made since the Germans invented the Jerry.

My Napa sells these cans. Better than anything I've ever used, even old style. Not sure how they get away with it.

for the larger equipment, tractors and SxS, we use the VR racing cans.

for the smaller equipment, lawn mowers and weedeaters/blowers/chainsaws, the auto-shutoff spring broke on my spouts, and they pour just like the old cans do. to this present day, I haven't been able to find a replacement spring.

Of all the new type gas cans out there, the only ones I've found that I like are the "No Spill" brand I can find at Tractor Supply. (that, or buy the adapters mentioned above and fix any gas can).

I use both racing cans and JUSTRITE and the JUSTRITE are superior. The only exception being if I'm dumping all 6 gallons into a large tank then YOLOing it with the racing cans until they're empty are easy.
