Im not a lawyer aren't but most SC cases there because they lost in a Lower court and were appealed up?

Doesn't want to do her job, more like. The leftist justices liked this being ambiguous and almost arbitrary as a back pocket weapon for activists to employ against conservatives. If the left hadn't have abused it so grossly and ludicrously it would have remained so. They don't want to be pinned down to either having to mostly take away the power universally or make it official which opens it up for more conscientious conservatives to utilize it efficiently to the maximum to halt any future leftist government. The left wants the to have their cake and eat it and this will largely take away one of those options.

She wasn't chastising them for bringing it nor does she not want to do her job.

The issue being discussed was "if every person has to bring a lawsuit, how can they ever be a finality of judgment?"

The administration lawyer said there would be finality once the Supreme Court ruled on the merits.

The situation posited by Kagan was that the administration could just keep losing and losing in all courts, but never take it to the Supreme Court.

Yes, she was smug in how she said it, but I like when Alito and Gorsuch act that way, so can't get mad at Kagan for doing the same

She's only against anything brought to the court that the conservative justices may vote on their way. She's 100% an idealogue. She never falls out of line. It's a condition of the left. Wish we had that going for our side.

Can someone explain to me why the administration brought this case to SCOTUS to test universal injunctions? Wouldn't this issue actually have some argument for a universal injunction?

And it is not unheard of at all levels. Seems more and more they prefer to plea bargain rather than go through the time and effort of preparing for a trial. And they might cite they are concerned about the expense, but they are government employees and few, if any, are worried about spending taxpayer dollars.

This is how all of the Soros DAs operate. One sided "justice."
