Good. The market has decided.

I would agree except the general population is dumb as a bag of sticks. See the music and entertainment industry for what the market says works.

See "Piss Christ" by Andres Serrano to see what our betters seek to enlighten us with using our own money.

K. Maybe be more specific.

Farmers would certainly exist without subsidies. They existed before subsidies. Also, farmers don't get anything near what you think they get in subsidies. Increases in input costs from farmers will be passed along to the end consumer.

If a company cannot exist without government assistance, it shouldn't exist.

NPR & PBS will still exist without the CPB.

Good. They'll run like a business (with their own money). They just shouldn't be afforded by taxpayer dollars.

So,

You will continue enjoying their programs without public funding?

Some of their programs are quite interesting, so yes, I will.

I enjoy the history and science focused programming.

Politics, current events and environmental issues, not so much.

Good on you, Sir.

It's amazing how many of these left wing news outlets were supported by our own. Tax dollars - literally a few million people paid to support and fake ideology driven by a hand full of people using our government tax dollars to support one side - how did we let things go this far? I doubt it will end here either, Trumps got limited time then it will start back up wish tax payers would have a way to cut the taxes so money isn't wasted

Ask our farmers?

Talk to them when PBS and NPR become a major part of the country's economic and strategic interests.

By the way, this isn't 1980 when it comes to farm "subsidies"

This is where your "donations" go:

Executive compensation at PBS (2023)
"Total expenses were $542 million. However, $165 million were donated broadcast rights and $6 million was depreciation, meaning cash expenses were $371 million, with the largest expense ($97 million or 26% of cash revenue) being compensation for the 657 employees, who received an average compensation of $148,000. However, only 313 employees (about 50%) received more than $100,000 in compensation.
The 15 most highly compensated employees were:
  • $1,168,661: Paula A Kerger, President and CEO
  • $ 779,625: Jonathan Barzilay, COO
  • $ 631,581: Ira Rubenstein, Chief Digital Officer
  • $ 578,736: Katherine S Lauderdale, Chief Legal Officer, Corporate Secretary

I work for an ESOP with a similar number of employees, and our overhead isn't anywhere close to this. What a racket.

$400K for DEI position. I am in the wrong business.

I have a cousin who got blue-pilled. She is very intelligent and a hard worker, just misguided. She got a doctorate in public administration and has a position as the lead diversity official for a public hospital system. Because she works for a public agency her salary was available online. I was shocked at what they pay her. It was not far from this number.

Maybe it's just an act to get more money than she would have in her old job?

I doubt it. We have some old family land where all the cousins have interest that we can't come to agreement what to do with. She suggested donating it to the city or county for low income housing. That idea went over like a turd in a punchbowl.
