This is one of the best comparisons I have seen.

I would equate the antics of Westboro Baptist Church to be similar to BLM.

Most of the political (not religious) positions of WBC are actually fairly middle right, not far right. It's their behavior and the way that they express those views that makes everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY, really hate them.

If Westboro Baptist Church was facilitating race baiting instead of militant Christianity, every single one of the leaders of that organization would have a multi-million dollar ranch that they did not pay for themselves.

My wife spoke to our Tech student son earlier this afternoon. He brought up Charlie Kirk and wanted to know if she had heard about the student being arrested & expelled. But then he continued on with how he had actually participated in an on campus prayer vigil and how he had been listening to CK's podcasts even before he was murdered with plans to listen to more. I was shocked... my son has always avoided any political or social justice discussions and TBH was the last member of my immediate family that I would have ever expected to have had any interest in something CK might have said.

I know that this is completely anecdotal and just a single data point, but I have to believe that if my son was listening to CK then there were/are WAY more young people out there listening than we might have otherwise believed.
