After George Floyd was killed, we saw letters from the CEOs of Ford, GM, Apple, Walmart, McDonald's, IBM, Barclays, Starbucks, Lowe's, Amazon, Nike, McGraw Hill, Grainger, the list goes on expressing their sympathies, sorrow, disgust, pain, etc. etc. over the "senseless killing of George Floyd."

Will we see similar letters in the coming days?

What happened yesterday was massively more consequential to all of America than George Floyd. Like 9/11, it was an attack on tens of millions of Americans.

But no, companies will not be kneeling or "taking a stand."

In lieu of those letters, which we all know will never come, I offer a message received from our pastor this morning;

"To Members & Friends of Christ Church,

"As I wake up this morning to what has been for the last 24 years one of the darkest days in the history of our country, my heart is unbelievably heavy with grief and sadness over the assassination of Charlie Kirk that took place yesterday.

"He was a strong Christian, a loving husband and father, and a strong advocate for free speech. His tragic murder has profoundly revealed the cultural malaise that blankets our country today, wherein evangelical Christians who express a boldness in their faith are criticized, condemned, and even cancelled. I was truly appalled by the way some in the mainstream media characterized the heinous act of evil that was committed on the campus of Utah Valley University.

"I said this past Sunday that we must be bold in our witness. Charlie Kirk exemplified the kind of boldness that is called for from Christians today. He gave people the opportunity to share their opinions. He listened carefully to each person. He then responded with a beautiful blend of boldness and compassion.

"May we not sit idly by in the coming days and weeks. Instead, it is my prayer that we will represent to our children, our families, and our friends our Savior, Jesus, who built His Church on a Rock, and declared that the Gates of Hell will never prevail against it.

"But what exactly does that mean?

"It means that we will not shy away from conversations with unbelievers or with people who are opposed to Christianity because we worry that we might somehow offend them by our beliefs and convictions. It means that we will speak the truth, but we will speak the truth in love. It means that as followers of Jesus, we will recognize sin as sin while remembering that all of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. It means that we will love as Jesus loved, remembering how He told the adulterous woman that He didn't condemn her while also charging her to "go and sin no more." It means that we will boldly stand on the truth of God's word while boldly loving even those who seem impossible to love.

"I have watched Charlie Kirk model that kind of Christian witness, and I pray that you and I will extend his legacy through the ways we walk as followers of Jesus. The world we live in today desperately needs you and me to live like that.

"Will you? Will we?

"God bless you.

My wife's company did yesterday, but that's because she works for a highly visible Christian organization that's been labeled a hate group by the SPLC, the mainstream media and various late night talk shows.

Doubtful.

Most of them think he deserved it. And he was white, Christian and conservative. They only seem to support career criminals who are people of color.

I mean look at the poor girl from North Carolina. Half of the media outlets barely covered it.

WHAOH.

It is not "WE" by any stretch. The garbage political, press, and academic is not "we" . THEY are the ones that "glorify POS" behavior and enable it. Anyone half normal would want to see such behavior cracked down up to Old West style.

The only flagpole I've been by on campus today was the big one in Aggie Park and it was at half-staff. I've got meetings here all day, so I'm sure I'll pass others.

To their credit, I've seen statements condemning this from Rosie O'Donnell of all people (but probably because she knows everyone hates her and she's looking for a way back in), and Jimmy Kimmel.

It's easy to condemn it. I want a letter from the CEOs of major companies expressing deep sorrow for what happened like the did George Floyd. I want them to offer a personal day for those who want to grieve.

A lot of that is because those CEOs are left-wing nut jobs, but a lot of that is also because they don't want the party of crime and violence to trash their businesses.

No, they will not. Only way it would happen is if Charlie had appeared in blackface or claimed to be of some abnormal sexual orientation. If both, then they would be putting up statues, painting murals, and renaming streets after him.

Yes, as Curry said, Jerry House, Christ Church, College Station.

I commend to you the six-week churchwide study that started last Sunday. Come Lord Jesus, a study on the second coming of Christ (not a study exclusively focused on Revelation, btw).

Never forget that normal, decent people are the majority in this country, not what is portrayed in mainstream news and late night "comedy."
