Stopping hate speech that directly results in violence is not stupid. It's also not protected.

You mean like 20 year old who works at office depot refusing to print a charlie kirk poster? Because that's what bondi is talking about. She wanted to go after office depot AFTER they fired those employees.

Conservatives have been campaigning against hate speech nonsense for 50 years. Bondi I guess didn't know that.

She needs to be laser focused on taking down antifa and their funders, but she's talking about hate speech in the context of minimum wage office depot workers. She's a clown and not up to this.

Theres too much on the line yo let a dumbass handle it because she's pretty.

Have they been arrested?

You can think she is a dumbass and in over her head, have at it. I know you are wrong but that's okay, and it's okay to be wrong.

She is also not the only person at the DOJ working on things.

So far I have been very pleased with actual progress in fixing things. Adam Schiff in handcuffs is not high on the list for me.

Yeah but you think hate speech laws should exist.

Why do you think hate speech should be protected?

And i know what the 1st amendment says. I also know SCOTIS has shown free speech is not absolute and some speech is not protected.

Hateful speech that is violent in nature, is a call to violence, leads to violence or is so extreme that it can reasonably be considered as to lead to violence should be restricted.

The first amendment was not added to Constitution to protect violence or even hateful speech. It was added to allow for sharing of ideas, protesting the government, petitioning the government, etc. Along with a "free press" it is one of the biggest checks on government.

The U.S. attorney who Trump thinks he fired resigned to avoid being disbarred. Pam Bondi would be smart to do the the same.

You don't need the "hateful" descriptor at the beginning.

Hate speech is protected speech. Full stop. Conservatives rightfully blasted Bondi for what's she said.

She saw the light and backed off. Unless her actions show otherwise, time to move on!

Who defines hate speech? The govt? That is how you become Great Britain today where they arrest people for social media posts the govt doesn't like

They get to define what hate speech is. And, they is whoever is in power. Thats the problem with the concept of hate speech.

There is no such thing as hate speech. It's a made up term for thought and speech control.

Hate speech includes violent speech. They are not exclusive of one another.

Yes, all hate speech is not violent speech. Though I don't have a ready example, I suppose one could conjure up violent speech that was not hateful but I think that would be rarer.

Point being that you cannot simply sate "hate speech is protected by the first amendment" as that is simply not true.

Specific to the Office Depot I don't think it was even remotely hate speech. They refused service but violated policy. For Kimmel, his comment seems intended to invoke a very immediate and emotional response. Is it hate speech or fighting words, I don't think so. But ABC yanked the show for good cause.

They would be incredibly tone deaf to reinstate him. The ratings were abysmal and the show lost tons of money, more than Colbert. I suspect Variety article is based on negotiations over contract termination.

Great question. But do you admit that here in the USA speech is not absolutely protected. Any attempt to correlate to what I said and what the current situation in the UK is asinine, full stop.

But let's look at "violent" speech too. If we say violent speech has to be restricted, then is a pro abortion speaker practicing violent speech? Speech is tricky. I am for looking at how we can have better clarity. I am not advocating for thought police.

Too true.

Just like how every administration gets to decide who is a terrorist. While cool and fun when it's benefiting their side, if it's done purely out of selfishness/spite, and not in the best interest of the country and everyone in it, it's just another slippery slope that no one will like in due time.

As much as I like Ted, I think he would be all talk too and not do very much. Same could be said for when Trey Gowdy was in the House. I love both of them when it comes to House and Senate hearings, but after they're over……nothing happens.

Arrests need to be made.

The fraud DOGE uncovered.
Spying on Trumps campaign.
Russian collusion.
Auto pen.
Weaponizing the IRS.
Weaponizing the DOJ.
Treason.
Funding of domestic riots and terror.

Take your pick . . . A decade of the Left abusing their power.

Let me add some context to this. Each of those involve finding actual evidence that would stand up in a court of law.

These crimes were perpetrated by people who are lawyers, advised by lawyers and complicit with any oversight and law enforcement acting at the direction of the most powerful people on earth to stage a coup, steal an election, and steal trillions from the American people.

You think maybe, just maybe, they covered their tracks just a bit? You cannot even get judges to stop paying orgs identified by DOGE as fraudulent… but we are going to convict those running it of serious crimes?

I am equally frustrated and scalps should be demanded, but it is not unreasonable that they are having difficulties developing provable cases.

BTW- when they do have something, it will be released when most convenient. Either Trump needs out of a real pickle or before the midterms.

I gave my thoughts on why perp walks have not occurred. I absolutely believe that would be the case if Cruz, DeSantis, Pirro, Guliani or Pontius Pilate were leading things.

It's recognizing that as incompetent as libs are they are excellent at their crimes as they are well practiced.
